02 modified TJ, I don’t know where its going rebuild

Well……not, I did not see Flyin Ryans post. Even if I pass smog, no help? I feel I should go to the smog shop that the dealer used I bought the rig from. I am going to give them a call tomorrow to make an appointment. I recall they paid a large some to get her on the road, sure this is a referee shop as well, they did not have the Banks CARB compliant sticker, they found it later. I know what I am doing today at least.

It's nothing against you or your Jeep... It's a CYA thing and you can't blame him with how businesses have been ruined from places dealing with smog things.
I thought one you had your CARB sticker you could take it to any place to have it smogged? Also I'd check to make sure that innercooler is legal...

Here's FRP's post.

My plans are to move out California, then no more of those worries. The the microelectronics industry is picking up again, am I getting some offers to apply to various companies. Yes, your right, I should look into the intercooler is smog legal, my guess not. I could go your route with, a smog leagal hemi setup? If it exists for CA, way out of scope on our current budget.

If you are serious about a Hemi swap then contact Jeep Speed Shop... They offer a smog legal swap on TJ's.

I should be grateful to be allowed for what I have under the hood, so…. far. I did find a source for the r4 software cd, but pricy, have to buy a the split second controller for a Mazda. I have been keeping an eye on it, its much cheaper than the DIY intercooler. I checked out Jeep Speed Shop site, like you stated need to contact them for TJ application, did not see TJ referenced, only JK applications are offered on their website.

Since I've only ever had a 4 cyl & then my 5.2 V-8 & now the Hemi I can't compare to what it's like with a 4.0... If you're happy with the turbo & 4.0 I'd stick with that...

Years ago JSS started doing TJ Hemi swaps but then as JK's & now JL's have become more popular and TJ's are "old" they don't support them as much but YES they have done them & as far as I know still do. If I remember things correctly they were the first shop in CA to offer a smog legal Hemi swap for the TJ.
Todd & Liz are good people.

Get it fixed and spend a year or two wheeling it before you decide you want to make any serious drivetrain changes.

I will get the use out of 4.0 for a bit, power to weight ratio is good, yes the Dana 35 has suffered with this setup. I will change that out regardless what engine in there. It would be fun just here a v-8 under the hood though.

Swap in an LS and you can continue to use the Dana 35...

(That never gets old... 🙂)

Yippie! She passed smog, only question out of his mouth what year and where is down stream cat? Along with a new high current alternator, I am putting this ripp coil on my list with R4 software and clean up this pcm swap/split second piggy back splicing mess. PCM replacement is from Auto Module source, I reached to Mark at Wrangler Fix .com. Need to tear into it more to get better info on pcm replacement.

I discovered the alternator I ordered on Amazon which I paid extra shipping (have prime account) LActrical is right here in Burbank CA! They have a E-bay site as well. They offer a 250amp for TJ’s 50 bucks more. Have not found store front service yet, may trade up.

Watch as some of the higher amp alt won't make as much at idle as the lower ones do. So unless you've got a huge drain on your electrical system you don't always need that extra.

I am currently troubleshooting my neighbors 2018 Malibu LS, should earn enough for that RIPP coil pack, or optimum red top, maybe both. The Malibu is in rough shape.

Tell him to lose the Lame Shit engine and it'll be worth a lot more...

Not a lot of LOVE around here for an Optima anymore. I had 5 fail in about the same number of years. Switched over to Odyssey batteries now.

Thanks

I have small m6000 winch, going with led aux lights, sold the Viair compressor getting a little arb compressor. Sound system will change but not much, lower current system? I have a n cobra night watch CB, I am putting that back in or upgrading, not sure what amp draw is from CB yet. My first Jeep and first CB.

Thanks

You really don't need a huge amp alt for that. My point was that before trying to upgrade ask them what each alt is putting out @ 750-1200 RPM's. That is the more important data as opposed to what the max is.

Ok, Odyssey it is.
The Malibu is my new neighbors car, She has not had any service done in while, infamous code P2101, MAF/dirty trottle body, and severe oil leak. CHACHING!

I received the replacement switch module today. I swapped over wiper switch and got it in, so…..The led flasher still chattering when I switch battery power on. I found the oem flasher, stuck that in and no chatter and of course no turn or brake signals with old flasher. The headlight issue has been fixed with new module, got low and high beams now, all other switch positions work, didn’t test fog switch yet. The other bonus no idle change either when turning on headlights and alt not wining as much. Waiting for new led flasher, should get it next Thursday. If it still chatters I have some short going on in wiring harness? Alternator from Amazon may roll in tomorrow, I get some more info on that current output at idle rpm range before pulling trigger on hairpin. I Got the Malibu moving today, cleaned throttle body and did the throttle position reset procedure, all good for now. Struts and control arms need replacing and fix oil leak with a tune up. She wants it done this month. I am giving her very fair price for the job, it will cover the RIPP coil and the difference on alternator swap and or new battery? 😃
