02 modified TJ, I don’t know where its going rebuild

Well, the can of worms is not empty yet. Mocked fit lite dot tail light with their brackets, looks good, better when touch up paint. Temporarily wired it up and the funk happens, with engine operation. Tail lights light up, running lights just outer led ring, back-up work, headlights on just outer led ring and engine runs rough, Brakes nothing, have not checked fuse yet. I then put the led flasher back in column turn battery power back on and all leds blink fast. So my next step is to remove RV tow light set up out, found the diodes, just need to find the splice in for the RV connect. Hopefully blown fuse for back-ups, replace flasher. Temporarily Mock all lights up and pray. I sure I am missing something maybe one fo you guys have experienced this phenomenon? Came in for lunch, study schematics. Going back out to trace more wiring.

I am leaning towards MetelCloak , full corners (metal) with their nifty quick change fender and metal rocker guards. Keep Gen Right fenders up front.
I didn’t care for GenRights service, have not called MetalCloak yet. I dig those rear shocks they have. Waiting for Black Friday. I would like to get either of their tub mount tire carrier. Gen rights looks better, about the same pricing. Meantime straighten current bumper tire mount.
I need to resolve this lighting issue soon or sneak into a smog station without lights. 😃

While I have their steel corners I'd advise you to get the aluminum ones instead... You won't find much LOVE here for Metal Cloak but they have good customer service. And they're already offering deals.

Yeah….I just got off the phone with MetalCloak and leaning back towards GenRight. I will just piece meal in the parts. Rocker guards first, steel or Al? Then Al corners. I have been wrenching on other peeps vehicles in the neighborhood to earn extra Jeep Funds. Did a tuneup on a 08 Nissan Frontier 2.5l, what a PIA that was. 2018 Cheney Malibu LS oil pan replacement next when she has the monies.

You can get the mounts to use the MC flares on the GR corners if you want. I didn't know they offered this when I was buying my corners.

👍
They're in the builders parts section...

It just dawned on me now I may damaged brake wire when drilling out rivets on the diamond plate guard. Did not think of moving the harness at that time.
Fuse is ok, I have a mission for tomorrow, I did remove the RV tow wiring, just need to get rid the zener diodes, got too dark

I decided to put off buying any amor until next February 2026, because Holidays and new more urgent need, a high current alternator and and at least one optima type batteries for dual set up, rig has dual bat switch. May throw in a new Pioneer head, amp and Rockford bar speakers. Main goal now smog check electrical.

This is the healthiest alternator I could find so far, another cool sticker? Also I stumbled upon genright riser guard, only one one I’ve seen that will cover that ding. Well, off to fix my possible f-up on harness and so on🤞🙄

Wiring all in tact no damage, attempted using those low temp solder/shrink wrap butt connectors without developing a process that is reliable. Neat idea, but think a clean copper and dip in liquid flux will help with magnifier glasses I was off on a few pulled right apart. Start again tomorrow, I am glad I didn’t do what thought about drilling into wires.
IMG_8235.jpegIMG_8236.jpegIMG_8239.jpeg
Looking at connections with magnification solder not wetting well to copper not fully melted, not sold on these yet, but first attempt using this technology.
I do have my weller station, solder etc… if need to

Wire harness is connected back together, I went with tried and true s/n63 RMA flux core solder wire and iron. Tail lights temporarily installed with bullet connectors, finalize when ever corner guards are procured and installed. Replaced 2 wire led front turn signals with 3 wire type eliminating the need for resistors. I discovered that head lights switch module is bad, low beams and turn switch toast. May explain why flasher was chattering with ignition off, I will order another flasher just in case. Brake light switch also faulty. Wiper module tested out ok. I have those items ready in my amazon cart, no extra monies right now. Next week worst case. All good, I have found a suitable 200amp alternator with 0 wire and 200 amp battery fuse on amazon. Might as well get the missing belt tensioner? (does not appear the alternator bracket for the banks turbo is not made by banks but it has the stock tensioner mounting) idler pulley and new belt. New Battery or batteries next year. The lights were all functioning when got her but have not done any night driving or tested since.

Running lights and backup lights worked, rig looks naked without corner guards. Not too happy with LiteDots brackets. Finally installed a horn, not bad with stock wiring, louder when put in a relay direct to battery.

I managed to neaten from left side wiring, had to quit, still fighting a stubborn sinus infection. I left the fog light wire out, plan to install a pair on bumper, not sure to mount on top or cut holes in bumper with flush mount type. Maybe a small light bar on the Agency 6 Fairlead plate mount. If I install flush mount fog lights gives me an option for anther set of aux lights on top of bumper. Aux lights will have be later of course. I am going with LED on fog and aux lights.

I didn’t have fresh plastic harness wrap, wrapped with automotive cloth harness tape, need to add plastic wire wrap on my list.

The signal and brake switches have been ordered, did not order new flasher yet. Should have all funds for smog/reg and new alternator etc… next month.
Then late January dive into t-case, install new oil pan/rear seal and front end service . I am quite sure when I change alternator out I will check out the turbo as well.
Then back to interior and beautification and so on….and on…..
Also, I decided to get a hardtop, I have not done much research on that yet.

This schematic shows where flasher and stop light switch tie in, this did not come from my manual. Think this schematic came from one of our forums.
Explains why stop lights still don’t work with a new stop light switch. Tested new and old switches confirming new is good old is still bad. New turn signal switch hopefully next Monday. I think old flasher may work, better order one just in case. Crazy how easy it is was to remove stop light switch, but back in, PIA for me. I almost resorted to remove the driver seat. I am not as flexible as used to be. I managed to get the new switch in somehow, my back will feel it tomorrow.

I believe this set up will work out, similar to the banks exchanger. Outfit is located in Colorado Springs, Price is not bad. Next, find some software to tweak the Split Second engine timing/fuel enrichment cpu.

I'd say IMO you're better off contacting @Flyin' Ryan Performance who is a member here and discussing your Jeep with him. He doesn't like the piggyback controllers like Split Second. They were needed back when the Jeep PCM was locked but now that there are companies like FRP Tuning you can now tune without the Split Second controller. Ryan is a good guy and knows his way around forced induction.

I do not provide services, nor parts, nor advice to California for legal reasons. The entire state of California is IP-banned from my website.

Excellent, thanks

Well……not, I did not see Flyin Ryans post. Even if I pass smog, no help? I feel I should go to the smog shop that the dealer used I bought the rig from. I am going to give them a call tomorrow to make an appointment. I recall they paid a large some to get her on the road, sure this is a referee shop as well, they did not have the Banks CARB compliant sticker, they found it later. I know what I am doing today at least.

Rather large sticker, finally, I put it on the TJ 🙏🤞
