Thought of painting the hinges too.

I was going to keep the tailgate brushed, and possibly paint the bumpers and sliders silver too, kinda like the Flame Red Genright LJ.

The problem with Flame Red TJ's is they all look alike.

I don't mind it too much, but the silver/aluminum look works with Flame Red.

If you're going to make more parts silver/aluminum, then brushed would work. If not, I'd go Black, with white or red Jeep letters.

I don't mind the aluminum, body matched would look cleaner though.

Or, you can just keep adding aluminum so you could look like what all flame-red jeeps hope to be one day.

I like it. Just wish they would offer a cover without the lock cylinder. Love the paint match.

Staying busy in the garage today. I went to borrow a transmission jack from a guy. He said he’s been trying to give it away. So I now have a transmission jack. It works.

There were a few nuances when I got inside the case. I’m trying to solve those.

is the hub larger too or just the sprocket?

@DrDmoney, the sprocket is a little wider. Hub is same and it fits on the splines correctly. I’ve moved the sprocket over to mine and the recess is the same, so I just need to get the retainer back on. PITA as always. I had to give up today due to other pressing issues.

There’s one other difference I need to look at more closely tomorrow when I get home. I’ll take a pic and put up. It may be incidental. That’s my inclination after thinking about it.

Yeah, I’ve got a copy. I watched a video and looked at the instructions. I was pretty much just doing me own thing though, and trying to use @DrDmoney ’s front half of the TCase and put my SS SYE and back half of the TCase on his. One of the things that didn’t exist back then that exists now (I think) is the SS SYE. Maybe the Tera Mega-Short was available back then. At any rate, my JB SS SYE is a little different than the SYE @DrDmoney had. If I can get the retaining clip on, I’ll be good to go, I think. I may need to shave it down some to get it in the groove, or it may just be a really tight fit. I’m going to get up bright and early and see if I can get past that part, drop it in and see if the chain will be fine and not interfere (like it was doing with my narrower sprocket).

IF memory serves me right there wasn't any SSYE available back then. But I don't remember when they came out either so they might have been. Good luck.

I’m thinking about it and it shouldn’t matter, it’s just the rear part of the SYE shaft that should be different

Should be little issue, 231 internals swap pretty easily.
