When buying a replacement radiator for my 2000 TJ 4.0 5 speed I got overly enthusiastic and bought a four column unit.

In hindsight I'm thinking that'll cause issues by not letting the engine and oil heat properly on a stock I6 4.0 and the Jeep might be better off with a two column unit.

It's past the return window so I can't just trade it in.

I'll probably eat the cost but thought I'd first ask if anyone have experience with a four column radiator on a stock six cylinder TJ?

That's what the thermostat is for-- to regulate engine temperature. Don't worry about it, and enjoy your bottomless well of cooling capacity in Texas.

I would be inclined to run what I got. Note that fin count has an influence on cooling so depending on the construction the additional rows may/may not be that much of a factor. Up north we have this cardboard trick where we covered our oversized radiators in the winter so they we less effective….so there is always that option 😉

Let us know how it works out. Generally speaking Denso radiators are recommended. Would be nice to know your experience with this one.
