Access to engine with lift

Any cool tricks, products, home built ideas to make it easier to get under the hood on a lifted rig?
I have a small 'over-the-tire' step but it's actually too tall and not all that secure on a 12.5" tire.

Guess I could buy a climbing harness and hook up to my overhear hoist and just dangle.

Climb. Stand on the bumper.

I had a 78 gmc with a straight 6, which had a TON of room under the hood. I remember climbing into the engine bay and sitting on the inner fender to work.

When I did my cooling system overhaul I jacked the TJ, removed the front tires, & lowered it onto the smallest set of jackstands that I have. Helped a little bit.

124 bucks at Lowe’s, I use mine all the time at work. Light and very adjustable

OP, i've seen guys use a simple pallet to get just a few inches of height.

OP, i've seen guys use a simple pallet to get just a few inches of height.

Yeah, not sure I'd go with stilts. Seems like a whole thing when you drop a socket . Take the tires off, put small jack stands under the front axle to where the brakes are barely off the ground & just stand on something. Like move your step stool around or whatever.
