Advice or recommendations on sound system in 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ

The factory RB1 has a heavy steel bracket at the rear of the deck to support it. They use it because the deck is really heavy compared to the other factory decks that use that little wire. You could copy the design, it wont be easy.

What did you throw into the center console, a 6.75" or larger?

My TJ didn't come with the factory sub, just an empty pocket enclosure. I modified it to fit an 8" slimline sub.

I guess I'm not describing the issue well enough. I have the same install kit. Looks almost identical. The only thing keeping the head unit in place is the tiny plastic surround on the front of the unit. I don't have my Jeep so can't take a pick but it's the plastic trim on the front. That tiny trim piece clips to the metal and is the only that thing that keeps it from falling back into the dash. If I hit a bump, or even just push a button too hard, that trim piece falls off and the whole unit falls into the dash.

I know exactly what you mean. See these red circles, there are a bunch of metal tabs that you need to raise with a flathead screwdriver, and that will sandwich it together. Could that be it?

Is that white thing the empty pocket enclosure, or is that aftermarket? Great job.

Yes, it the factory pocket you'd normally stuff gear into. I had to be a little creative and seal the top of the pocket with plywood via epoxy. Put a little carpet on it and actually have a little storage room for small things.
