That is kind of bizarre. Was this recently?
I went to boot camp back in 1998. Things were a but different then vs now, and things were a bit different than the past. I got a 5 minute phone call home on Christmas, after my DIs forced me to eat all the goodies I had been sent and had just puked my brains out after being made to run 5 miles. Half my female platoon did not make it to graduation for lots of reasons. Sleep walking, threatening suicide, injuries, and on 2 occasions pointing loaded weapons at drill instructors. Lord knows what happened to them. I only hope your son is now healthy and happy, cause that's all we have in this life ❤

I left for Boot in San Diego in August of 91... UHG!!! The day I got there there was about 5 guys with their heads so swollen from sun burn they looked like aliens.... The only phone call we got was if there was a change of status. When my dad went through in '68 he got to go home for Christmas and that's when him and my mon got married.

Hahaha I was Navy, and yes it sucked... the grinder was the worst. I'd have rather marched in the sand than on that blacktop oven!!!

Oh shit my bad! Shows what I don't know....sorry to have mistaken your branch. Personally I loved the Navy folk on camp Lejeune. They were sometimes the only voice of reason among "do what I say even though my ineptitude will get you killed".

If you're really really lucky you won't have to worry about it for too long, similar to a non-interference engine eventually you just put a new belt on and go at it again.

You both are spring chickens compared to an old dog like me.... I left for basic in Jun 1978 and went to Ft Dix, NJ. Still swear to this day that they shipped all that nasty sand (not soft beach sand) in just for use to suffer in.

But I spent more time in the military than some on here have been alive. (6/78-6/06)
