That’s where the frozen ones are. It’s dang cold up there.
I've always weighted a white sheet on the river bottom and came back in a few hours to a bunch of crawdads on it. They get attracted to it for some reason even without bait. I like the net,lay that on the sheet and it would be much faster to pull up with one person.some bait would make it that much better!
The boil in the bag places typically can’t get the flavor in them. You’ve really got to boil them and let them absorb all the seasoning so they sink to the bottom of the pot.
I've been there once and I remember it being good.... But then again I've never been to a backyard boil either so what do I know. The frozen are good? I should just ship some to my house and do it myself one of these days
Crab,clams,mussels,lobster are all make good Cajun boil too. Mix it all together with Cajun sausage,corn potatoes etc.
I think Walmart sells 3lbs frozen for like $14. We have been able to boil them and get them close to what we would get in Louisiana.
Looks like the big pacific signal crayfish is invasive in parts of Minnesota.

I’ve caught them on fishing poles before. Used to use them as bait. It’d take a lot of work to get a 30lb sack of them.

Toss in some eggs and hot dog weiners for a real Cajun boil.
The one I caught was 7 inch. , the crayfish grabbed my lure when I was reeling it in and i had to pry his claw open to get him off the line , I put it in a stainless pot live in water to cook and eat . We walk to the next campsite to talk to friends , and I watched a Raven fly down , fight with the crayfish then fly away with it ! We went and looked and the crayfishes main claws were sniped off and in the pot. This sums up my fishing experience with crayfish.
