Yes, during my yearly exam they test my urine... And then the pain clinic tests me about every 6 months... So honestly it's no different than when I was on active duty or a truck driver.
Like I said it depends on who you ask as to if you can partake if you live in a state where it's legal... But I also know I sure don't want to take the chance...

Was just curious. I have been fortunate enough to keep my PCM at the branch medical clinic on the base I used to work at.
Covered by Tricare Prime, free pharmacy and really great care by Navy Docs and corpsman (also called, "doc").

That's all coming to an end though because Tricare doesn't cover hearing aids, and holy crap, they're really proud of them things!

I'll be contacting the VA Monday to see if I can get similar tech from them.

My closest clinic is 90 minutes away so I pay a co-op clinic in town to be able to see a local doctor. But all my meds other than my pain meds are thru the VA. So I only pay about $50 a month in co-pays. And then the VA sends me to the pain clinic but it's in Yakima which is an hour away.

I've got hearing aids... The newer ones are pretty COOL with the tech that they can do...

I think part of this comes down to if your primary doc wants to be a hard ass they can make trouble for you if you're using. If your doctor is cool about it then it most likely wouldn't be a problem.
But like I said I've lived this long and never tried anything so why start now?

Something that ONLY some VA's will try to do... If you have enough hearing loss in one ear but not the other they'll only rate you for that one ear & then only give you one hearing aid... Freaking Seattle VA tried to play that game...
I'm 10% hearing loss on my LEFT ear and it's service connected but I'm only 5% hearing loss on my right ear & they say it's not service connected???? I'm a right hand shooter so which ear got the most from firing a weapon?
But I finally got hearing aids for both ears. The other thing is I've had both behind the ear & the smaller in the ear. The behind the ear ones allow you to have more features. I have a device that connects to my TV and then the sound is piped into my hearing aids. So I don't have to have my TV as loud anymore.

Dealing with the VA can be frustrating at times.

Me too , I worked in a nuke weapons plant for 15 years and county government for almost 17 years . I tried weed when I was 16 with a buddy , I didn't get anything other than coughing.

Its a lot stronger than it used to be.

Call me SQUARE or whatever is the term now days... I've never tried illegal drugs. Never had a want when I was a teenager (my friends used to say I was high on nature) and joined the Army @17.... So never had a chance or want after that...

I've had some suggest that I try CBD oils for my pain but the VA frowns upon this so I still haven't.

"Square" - now that's a term I haven't heard in decades; but I hear you. I dunno what the current term is either, but it describes me as well. Never tried any of it, not even booze or cigarettes. Didn't see the point.
