I want to buy some armor/skids for my tj. if you had only $400 dollers to spend on a tj with only a 3 inch lift and a 1 1/2 inch t case drop, what combination of things would you get?

Well said.
For $400 you might be able to swing an engine skid, ZJ steering upgrade and maybe a front diff guard. This way you now have a spare tie rod should you need one on the trail.
