Camping and wheeling at Uwharrie

Me and my buddy loaded up the trailer and headed out on a weekend camping/wheeling trip this morning. This will be his son’s first camping trip. Made the 2-1/2 hour drive and got our site set up well before dark. Made some little thrown together pizza/calzone concoction then headed out for a night ride under a full moon on one of the easy trails. Made it back for some hot dogs, marshmallows, hot chocolate and coffee and staying warm by the fire. Plans for more of the same tomorrow and tomorrow night. They have hit the sack and it’s 34° as of now with a low of 29° around sun-up. I always like cold weather camping but it’s been several years since I’ve done it. So far, so good, but we’ll see how this old body feels about it in the morning.

Thought about heading out there this weekend to wheel but just don’t have the time. Looks like a blast.

The only time I got cold was about 5:00 am I woke up and I had thrown my sleeping bag off of my upper body at some point. Was fine after covering back up.

Made some breakfast, then hit the trails for a little while again, made some chicken tacos for supper and hanging out by the fire the rest of the night.

My buddy was testing out some things on his phone while we were out on the trails at night. You can't really see a lot because the lights were kind of blinding, but I thought the video was kind of cool with the way the beams came off the lights.

Thanks. My wife got the chicken fixed up and ready the day before and we stuck it in the freezer so i just had to plop it out on the griddle. LOL.
