Can a multi-function switch with fog lights be used on a non-fog light application?

My son's multi-function switch has failed, and we need to order a replacement. Given the junk replacements, are there any implications of using the switch for a fog light switch, in place of his non-fog light switch? I can't think of any but wanted to check. Reason for going this route is the choices for non-fog light are more expensive, and junk like the rest.

Whatever switch you use verify it can handle the amperage of what your running. If a relay is in the loop then likely no problem.

To add to this….the issue with the original plug was too much amperage running through the switch for the headlights. The Toyota headlight kit solves this problem.

I replaced my MF switch with a Napa Echilin that has the fog light option. I use that switch to turn on my Hella offroad light’s relay harness via the fog light wiring.

I'm not planning to use the fog light switch at all, just the regular headlight function.

Yessir, I was just sharing in case you ever want to make use of the switch. My rig didn’t have a fog light switch until I bought a MFS with it.
