Changing from 15” wheels to 17” wheels

I know you directed at Chris, but a JK/JL/JT wheel is 5x5, so adapter/spacer is required.

I'm not sure what you mean. They DO make 17 inch wheels in 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern....

The big deal with 17s is the availability of 37" tires

I prefer to run 20" wheels with 33s and no lift.

Get some Dick Cepek Extreme country or Mickey Thompson MTZ tires. I loved the DC tires on my XJ.
p.s. I had the Nitto Mud Grappler tires on my old Jeep and they wore out quick and were really loud.

Thats a sweet looking XJ. I thought about the DC Extreme Country tires, but couldn't find many reviews on them. I did end up going with the MTZ's, which I do like, but they are noisy at hwy speeds.
