Details, eh? Well, alrighty then...
I bought my 2006 LJ in October of 2013. I was driving a mildly built '98 XJ (which I gave to my daughter). With the kids grown and out of the house I wanted to get back to my wheeling roots, but was looking for something that was a bit friendlier to my aging bones than the CJ-5 I started out with. I saw an ad for this one at a local dealer and had to go take a look. Straight 6, 6-speed manual, 40k miles. I liked what I saw and made a deal for cash. It was pretty much stock when I bought it, and I have been building it a little at a time, like most Jeep owners. I have done most of the work myself, with the exception of the gear/locker install. No telling where it will end...
First day pic. That chrome grille will be the first thing to go, along with the milk jugs. No idea why the PO bedlined the area below the doors like that, but...
A short list of mods, more or less in order (I'll start a build thread soon, with probably too many pics):
MetalCloak Overline fenders front and rear with 6" flares and rock rails
35" Goodyear MT/R-K's on 15x8 MB Razor alloy wheels
4.56 gears
ARB air locker in the rear Dana 44
2.5" OME lift
So here it is now (trail poser shot).
Still on the to-do list: tummy tuck, cage, front locker and chromoly shafts.
