Daily driver build questions

I just like the looks of the 35s. But please do give me ideas/suggestions on the modest lift.

I just want to do it the right way, not cut corners and enjoy a Jeep that my wife and kids also enjoy.

(y) ain't nothing looks better than a Jeep TJ on 35's driving in the mall parking lot !!!! It shows you have deep pockets too.....

No, you want a rig on 35's that you can convince your wife to tolerate. The kids don't have an opinion, they will be happy just getting in the rig and going out into the back country with mom and dad.

You're gonna spend 12-15 grand to build it right on 35's and you won't do that. You'll wind up with the same bullshit compromises that made the other rig suck because that's a lot of money to dump into a good build that is wholly unnecessary except to feed some aspect of your ego.

Is she good with jumping in and out of a 5.25" lifted TJ on 35s day in and day out?

'this' If you're wife will be driving it daily, a lift to accommodate 35" tires is going to old real fast getting in and out of. It's one thing if it's a weekend warrior rig. I did the 2.5" lift with Rancho 5000x shocks and it is great comfortable ride. I will be adding 32" Mickey Thomson Baja Boss's in the spring.

This is what I am after right now ~2.5”

I just need help to properly ID what it is I need to buy
Gonna stay with 31-32” & comfort , nothing crazy
Gonna be for a 16 year old

I almost bought a teraflex kit. (Glad I didnt after reading)
However need some tips on what OME springs to choose and supporting elements. Suspension COMPLETE overhaul kinda project to NEW feeling

already bought the Crown steering upgrade
So I just need Ranchero RS5000s and not sure what else

The thing rides like a swaying dump truck right now
Coil spring spacers gotta go and I wanna make it NICE

For my OME lift setup, i bought the following

Rancho 5000x shocks for 2-3” lift
OME heavy duty springs (yields 2.5”)
JKS rear trackbar bracket
JKS front sway bar disconnects
Bumpstops extensions

I ran this setup for 2 years with both 31’s and 32’s. No issues, it drove great and preformed great off-road

This was using stock control arms, stock track bars, stock rear sway bar, stock brakelines, etc

Here is 32’s

Here is 31’s

If i was staying with this size then i would have added a small spacer up front to level it out. And if you want a complete overhaul then i’d suggest replacing all bushing components like the control arms, you could go adjustable if you plan on doing more mods like a TT later

Mrblaine, I respect you and your opinions on Jeeps. It seems you have a vast knowledge of these rigs and have experienced it firsthand.

When I made this post, I was hoping you’d chime in and give me some wisdom on/how to do this build. So, with that being said. A) should I spend 12-15 for my wife to DD this thing? B) should I spend less and use 33s for her to DD this thing? C) should I just tell her to drive her Navigator and rack up the miles? Or D) should I slowly invest money into this rig and do it slowly, but the right way, so I don’t have a piece of crap toy for my family?

Thanks, I hope you’ll be able to steer me in the right direction and truly help me with this build.

Why can't it be driven stock with some good stock size tires and rims?

Many people seem to build jeeps incrementally using cheap parts and end up with a bad handling, poor steering, poor stopping vehicle that they dread driving on a daily basis, even though they might like the looks of it-the old “build it till till you hate it” trap. To answer your original question, starting with quality parts like Rockjock control arms is worth it because after you dump thousands of dollars into the rig you will love driving it. Put another way, you can spend $5000 on it and hate driving it, or $15,000 and absolutely freaking love it. That’s my experience, and I daily drive mine, even in Arizona’s heat.

I’m looking to buy the OME ultimate kit from DPG off-road. Do I need a SYE and rear driveshaft also?

You may or may not get drive line vibes with a 2”or 2.5” lift”. I did with my 2” lift and solved it with a motor mount lift. Then I did a tummy tuck and installed the super short SYE and it’s very smooth.

Thank you for that feedback
I will put a final list together and see if I got it all correct before ordering.

So only 1 JKS relocation bracket??
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005TTZSQS/?tag=wranglerorg-20
So this is primarily an asset for off roading??
Is the JKS relication bracket above also mainly for offroading??

THANKS!!!

…If all you want to do is play dress up with your Jeep, you should’ve bought a Barbie doll, not a TJ. You won’t get much sympathy or advice from this crowd if you come in asking for advice then promptly ignore it when you aren’t told what you want to hear.

Could do the suspension first then bl/mml. Suspension lift will get you to 32s. Check vibes, if none, then you could install the bl/mml and check again.

OME ultimate with both lifts should get you to 33s, which is a great size for the Jeep.

If its your wife's daily, I'd leave it stock for now. It looks and feels great and 33s still aren't going to be fun for her to get in and out. If it's for trails, a new bumper/winch would help more than any lift.

I think that if you're wife is willing to drive it with 35's, what the hell. And if your willing to do it right, this forum can help a bunch. I'm personally shooting for 32"s and trying not to do a BL/MML if I can help it. I'm 66, and the higher it is, the harder it is for me to get into. You all are younger, so go for it if it's not a financial burden.

The 2-2.5” lift is where you want to be if you just want it to look “beefier”. This is the cutoff point where you need to starting adding a lot of money to go higher lift. There are plenty of threads here how to economically but also not buy junk and get a 2-2.5” lift.

Edit: with this there are other considerations, brakes, etc. Spend some time browsing photos here and see what you’d want looks wise, the smaller the tire the easier it gets.
