DrDmoney’s 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Put my top on today, I usually do this when the time changes.

Anyway I dropped a nut from the trail doors and when I went to retrieve it from underneath I noticed the welds had broken at the CA mounts where the offset washers are captured. This happened to one of the rear mounts before, guess I’ll be welding all of them this time. Looks like a really crappy puddle weld with no penetration. I’ll probably weld the washers in since there’s no reason to adjust them. I’ve been happy with the G2 Core 44’s other than that.

Also while I was underneath, I have been meaning to check how much travel was realized on my shocks, particularly the MetalCloak Six Packs.

a little under 6” on the drivers side and 6-1/4” on the passenger side, I never hit the bumps on these and still had up travel left. My rear Fox 2.0’s were at 4” which is where I bumped them out at. No leaks yet.

I'll probably be putting my top back on soon. I try to hold out as long as I can before I put my hard top back on.
Mine is parked in my shop so I could go longer, since I only get to drive it on weekends it gives me more opportunities. Besides I only drive topless in the rain and snow off-road. :ROFLMAO:

I noticed that! We have a December Christmas tree run coming up....hoping for snow, you could take it off for that. :)

Put mine on last weekend as I had to drive to Sac town in 60+mph winds and apparently, fire! Yeah, I was on I5 when it caught on fire.
Go figure, 80's all this week.

You weren’t the guy that cut a hole in the fence we’re you?

How do you like GenRight’s tire carrier? Any gripes with it? There’s one near me (second hand) for sale. He’s asking $800. Said it may need new hardware. I believe he mentioned a bolt froze up on the bracket that mounts to the tub.

Me? Hell no! I wouldn't follow those pussies! I drove thru the smoke and fire and got on I80 east and went about my business. Was kind of spooky to watch the guard railing posts on each side of me on fire as I crept thru though!

I like it a lot, I can’t think of another I would rather have. It’s a great lightweight carrier for off road because it’s solid, any tire up to 42” x 14.50 will fit, has a place for your license plate and doesn’t rattle. The cons are it is not a slam close carrier meaning you can’t just swing it closed and you do have to give it a little help to align the pins that keep it closed But it’s not hard to do. For some, My wife, it’s a pain, it’s not like she ever closed the factory one all the way though. Is it an aluminum carrier? If so that’s a great price, not a bad price if it’s steel either. Either way you will want corner guards on your tub to help with the weight and it’ll help if you back into something like I did.

That’s good to know. The carrier is aluminum. At this point I’m not wanting to put corner armor on. So idk if that throws the idea out the window.

Mine was fine until...

in hindsight I will be making some larger backing plates for inside the tub and I’ll get out and look behind me more.

very cool and practical. I have been thinking of something like that that can double as a pick-up bed tent as well. Sort or like a pop-up camper with multi purpose.
The tent trailer has lots of merits, I’ll probably have one when I retire and have more time to not be home.😉

Well I was hoping to use this unplanned vacation time to install a new GenRight tank and aluminum skid that I ordered a while ago and hadn’t received yet. The plan was to install it for a Moab trip the week after EJS. The virus killed the trip and now GR called to tell me they can’t get a tank fabbed for 2 weeks due to the virus.

Poop! Starting to wonder about my timeline for the re-gear as well. Will wait till it gets closer, but I need to drive around some to break in the gears. Want to grab a beer? Hoping I can leave my RV at the shop for a while so I can drive around a bit.
