ECM complete removal

And this response had nothing to do with the question. So thank you for the time you took in location the letters on the keyboard to type this completely irrelevant “answer” but it just doesn’t help. So go back to practicing tying your shoes and don’t offer a response to an already answered question.
Simply, the answer is “yes” and it was posted previously with links on how to eliminate the ECM
If you can’t offer a solution to the problem then there is no need to strain yourself and waste anyone’s time with a post.
Chin up buddy! Just keep coloring those pages

while were on the subject of irrelevance . I keep having trouble out of the computer board on my 4 year old LG refrigerator. I tried removing it and it didn't cool at all. is there a way to remove it and have it keep working ?

I assume it is the OEM computer as I’ve only had this jeep for a couple of months. I’ve replaced control arms, shocks, tranny mounts and fluids, engine mounts (2x), exhaust, wheels and tires, all steering and suspension components (ball joints, end links ect), but the last thing I would have thought to be the cause of the issues I was having would’ve been the computer. My other jeep doesn’t have a computer like this. It is strictly nuts and bolts and my intent for the original question is, can I make this jeep the same way by removing the ecm? Or would this 06’ be useless without a computer?

I thought for sure replacing the wheels and tires would of fixed the problems your having with your PCM ! you never even mention what the original problem is !!!!

We all know that computers are not perfect, they fail.

With a non computer vehicle it is field serviceable.

AMC's used to have Ford Dura Spark ignitions and the box would fail at the wrong time.

That is why I would use a HEI 4 pin mounted on the fender to trigger the coil.

A simple but effective way to fix a problem before it happened.

The TJ's have systems that rely on electronics and that will be their down fall in the future.

Better to plan ahead and figure out how to overcome this looming problem.

I don't know of much that doesn't fail when it is used. What stops a spare PCM or similar from being carried as a spare?

Plan ahead as in carry a spare?

I don't understand why folks think there are going to be parts availability issues for the TJ. They made tons of them, tons. There is also a huge aftermarket that supports them as well. I can run the 4.0 on probably 10 or more aftermarket computers. Also if you swap to a carb and distributor you had better get good at doing field service. Ya know back in the era of the carb folks had to service their engines all the time. Now with FI you can let these things sit for years and they will fire. You can also drive thousands of miles and only change the oil. Engines last 2 to 3 times longer because fuel mixtures are kept at optimal ratios and not just rich all the time like a carb. Ultimately it's your rig, do whatever you want.

I think it's mostly based on thinks like heater cores, radiators and EFI sensors being discontinued and the aftermarket options being trash. Right now we have no heater core options known to reliably last beyond a year, radiators aren't much better or aren't usable for the warmer half of the country, and few aftermarket EFI sensors that don't leave us with a perpetual CEL.

For EFI systems I think a lot of people that aren't into engine modding aren't aware that there are aftermarket EFI controller options.

I don't know what we're gonna do about radiators and heater cores. I have a spare Mopar radiator but when my heater goes I'll bypass it until I find one that's worth the effort of installing. Can we expect a radiator manufacturer to step up and actually make something that lasts and matches the Mopar capacity when it hasn't happened yet? Or by 2035 are TJs gonna be reserved for cool weather when they won't overheat?

I know this is probably a dumb question and most likely is impossible however, I’ll be the one to ask it;
Is it possible to completely remove the ECM from my 2006 jeep wrangler unlimited ? It has been the root of every problem I’ve dumped $$$$ into and I would like to have just a nuts and bolts vehicle and get rid of all computers and sensors completely.

These may be the droids you are looking for.

And you're new here and don't know the various people here and while mrblaine is not one to spoon feed anyone or worry about hurt feelings, his thoughts and advice are 100% technically correct and spot on. You won't find a better resource for all things TJ related. Really. That you didn't like his responses or recommendations doesn't mean they were wrong, a bit thicker skin will help when seeking advice. Not all good technical resources will worry about politeness or being nice for the sake of it.

You are right about everything you said above except the part highlighted above - you are 100% incorrect in saying that he doesn't worry about hurt feelings. Blaine cares and deeply so.

To the OP - your idea is not a sound one. None of the issues you mentioned in the original post are PCM related, but other people have already mentioned all that. It is all entirely up to you to spend the time/energy/money.. but please know that you will 100% NOT get a TJ to run as well as the factory made it run with PCM/sensors if you somehow persist and succeed in making it run without one. I dare you to prove me wrong.
