All, thanks for the many years of information. I have a Ford 8.8 that has served me very well since installed 5 years ago. Recently my OX locker has stopped engaging. In my early inspection while trouble shooting the mechanical OX locker I also found I have an axle seal that is leaking. Suffice it to say its time for a rebuild.
My questions-
Since im cracking the rear end and pulling the axle I feel I should go ahead and replace all bearings and seals. At the same time it would be easy to upgrade my axles. I have no idea of the history of the 8.8 prior to my instal.
Would you recommend an axle (s) upgrade and if so which ones?
Im not really desiring to to do the c clip eliminate kit.
Im running 35 tires with 4.56 gears, in a 6 speed manual. My jeep sees dirt daily but I rarely crawl. Stock engine.
Ive never had an axle failure in this Jeep.
