I got rid of my swing out tire carrier, and while I was at it I removed the bumper mount for the CB antenna. Since you will get better performance with the antenna mounted higher in the front. So I will mount it from the break between the top of the fender and the bottom of the hood (drivers side). Question being how far forward/back should I mount it? I am thinking right by the back of the hood. ??

Thx
Rick

Here's mine, FWIW. Made more sense to me to mount it forward as well, but you don't see many this way. 5 foot antenna for road use, with a 2 foot to install on the trail.

I used this mount for my 2005 TJ. The coax enters the cab through the front of the door jamb and is easily routed. It uses existing holes for mounting so no drilling is required. Mine is for a dual band VHF/UHF ham radio and works great on the local repeaters. I found it on ebay for $15.00.
