Full Door Overhaul

Hey Jeep Peeps,

I picked up a totaled TJ that had the full doors in Chilly Pepper Red that match my TJ. I've long wanted to go back to full doors and now that I have these, unfortunately, they need more work than I had expected.

I figured I'd have to change out interior and exterior door handles but the more I got into that project, I found some other issues that I want to address.

My Windows are really hard to roll up and roll down. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether these things can be re-lubricated and or should I just invest in new window regulators?

I have to change out one of the full door gaskets? Anyone have a recommendation on a good fitting replacement? I've done some initial research and see some hits and misses as far as satisfaction with fitment.

I might as well re-paint the door sails. The exterior side is pretty ashy. Any recommendations on what paint and what exact color I should use?

Mirrors: One of them has some paint flaking away. Any recommendation on specific paint and color I should use for an exact match?

Any suggestions on a good adhesive to reattach the water dam / vapor barrier plastic on the underside of the interior door panels?

The interior door panels are Saddle and I need Camel. I have all the products I need to recolor and will be doing that in the next few weeks.

Next Spring when I go back to 1/2 doors, I'll work on addressing some of the door scratches.

I had to get to some rust inside the doors of mine and had really stiff cranking windows on one side. I sprayed some bedliner on the inside middle of the skin to help the door sound more solid and help stop any vibration and put a lot of Fluid Film in the bottom pinch seam to keep the rust from returning. In the process of spraying the FF I got some on the window track and it helped ease the cranking so I put some on all the moving parts of the window mechanism and on the locking mechanism too. Both the window and the lock work a lot better now. And unlike PB Blaster or Croil the FF should stay on and creep deeper into the parts for years.

I've never heard of Fluid Film.. I'll check that out.

If the shells are not bent, everything else can be lubricated...
You need to be really careful of the clips that hold the rods onto the latches, they are a type of spring steel that is brittle and breaks easy. that latch assembly is about $100 to replace.

This is the best lube I’ve found for the window channels. Takes a very small amount to make a huge difference in the effort required to roll a window up or down. One tube will last a lifetime.

Luckily all my rods are in good shape. I've received the inner and outer door handle assemblies and have done one door already. It wasn't hard to figure out but took some time to study and reference some online videos.

The clips are on the latch mechanism, its not the rods that are an issue...
