Garmin Inreach rental?

I've used Garmin GPSes for about 30 years - they are the 600 lb gorilla of the GPS world. I've seen better ones from time to time, but they usually don't hang around for the long term. Back in the day, a Magellan would beat a Garmin out cold - MUCH faster to acquire a position from both warm and cold start, even when it had to reload all the ephemeris data (cold start). What, if anything, is better than Garmin today I have no idea - but they've always been on the slow side.

Garmin is trying to be Apple. They have a complex eco-system that syncs your experience across handheld, desktop and wearable. I guess many companies are trying to do that, but Garmin has the Apple experience in its’ sights.

Suunto was the king for many years. The number one ABC watch on Everest was the Suunto Ambit. I had (actually, still have) every Ambit model. About a year ago they redesigned the UI and turned the whole experience into shit. I defected to Garmin shortly after that.
