My wife and I are still using our pixel 3 and 4. No complaints. I hate mfg and carrier bloat ware so vanilla Android is the only one I consider acceptable. Battery life isn't what it was when it was new but it's always been and still is waaay better than any of the new phones with branded versions of Android.
I prefer the fingerprint sensor unlock on my 3 over the face recognition unlock on wife's 4. I'm sure my face is in a fair number of databases since I have a driver's license and a passport but I'd rather not volunteer it to Google.
The only issue I've ever had is the USB-C ports propensity to get jammed up with dirt and lint or whatever else finds it's way in. A few minutes with a floss pick clears it out but it's always an annoyance when the charger won't seat fully and the phone won't charge. I don't know if the iphones port does the same thing but I don't know why it wouldn't.
I use Cricket for service. I find AT&Ts network to give the service area I need and I like paying $35 per line. I buy my phones separately and outright (which is why they're 3-4 generations old). I tried Straight Talk (Verizon mvno) once but I was having to call support almost every billing period and there were areas I frequented in the mountains in Colorado where I had no service but all of my ATT and TMobile friends did.
