Highline Rear Fenders?

Hey all,

is there some sort of highline kit for the rear fenders?

I like how the flares sit on this LJ.

Or did they just drill holes and mount them higher?

That's an old AEV highline kit, unfortunately no longer in production.

Cut the wheel hole larger and then put the flare where it needs to go.

Ah, ok. I knew of the AEV Highline for the front, but didn’t realize there was a rear component to it.

Yeah, the fender flares in the front and back are unique to the kit, and although they look similar to stock they're actually quite large in comparison. With that said many replicate the look and move their stock flares to the highline location as @jjvw suggested.

These are the bits that get cut off to fit the AEV kit.

I liked the factory look of the AEV HighLine but there are several other choices to get that or better clearance and there is the option of doing yer own thing.... which is always better.

I do like the Metal Cloak choice. Looks bulletproof.

Rather than brittle like the AEV option..

Usefully there is a reason to open up the rear to begin with. Most don't seem to be reusing the factory flare when they do this.

In as much as you have done a lot of work to fit a large enough tire with enough suspension up travel that the body is now in the way.

umm, no

The front is the can of worms. The gas cap is a minor inconvenience.

The front is definitely a lot more involved LOL. The rear is just taking a half circle and turning it into half of a hexagon, I can't really say it any other way... Make sure you are confident before trying it, there is no going back!

Wish someone would come out with something similar to the AEV kit that retains the stock look.

Just not a fan of the Metal Cloaks, Genright, Poison Spider, or any of the other "highlines" that I've seen.

In the rear you can cut the opening maybe 3/4" higher up the tub. To go higher you need to do something about the spot weld flange.

Mine is cut flat to the innerfender and the tire uses every inch of the available space. The stock flare doesn't fit the 37s so I had to go elsewhere. As always, full details are available on my build thread: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads...le-adventure-lj-story.9956/page-9#post-207457
