Jeep Gladiator Press Shots

Looks like some press shots leaked for the Jeep Gladiator (previously called the scrambler). It’s not bad looking, not for me but would be cool to see them around.

I personally think that thing is fugly as hell.

I think I dislike it so much because of the Wrangler look, but the extremely long wheelbase. It doesn't look proportionate to me.

I got all excited as I thought it was going to look like the old 'Gladiator' but its just a 4 door Rubi pick up
I can see why they would do it ...its not 'bad' looking to me but it wouldn't be on my Christmas wish list.

I agree with ya on that! And also @Chris about the long wheelbase just seeming kinda off.

The rear door also looks very funky. Guessing they want to reuse as much as possible from the JLs. Payload and tow capacity make it better than the "JL with a bed" I suppose. It will sell quite a bit if they don't price it into the stratosphere.

I like it. If I was looking for a new vehicle, I'd probably end up in that. You aren't going to do any serious wheeling or towing with it, but I like the way it looks and would feel fine driving it to the mall.

Yea not so much. After you lift it and put 35s on it I will, but just stock like that I don’t care for it. It does resemble AEVs Brute to a T tho for the JK.

I think it will be near that regardless of trim.

They’ve been teasing this thing for ages. It’ll cost an arm and a leg and asa result, sell poorly; then it will be discontinued.

FCA will say next time it comes up “well we made one before and it didn’t sell, so we’re not doing it again.”

I know why they didn’t do a 2 door, but that would make it a)look less terrible b) be extremely attractive to people like me who need a pickup from time to time, but want the open body feel of a Jeep.

Yes, if it was a 2-door, I think visually it would look a lot better. I think that it just looks way too long, and with that Jeep front end, I can't decide if it's a Wrangler or a pickup. Some people probably like that, but I don't.

It also can't be taken seriously as a real truck replacement, as it won't be able to tow anywhere near the amount that a full size truck could tow. So it's sort of an interested vehicle. Priced at 60k, I think they'll be a hard sell.

But hey, I could be wrong.

They’ll appeal to the jet ski and small (teardrop) style camper crowd. To me, it feels more like a “lifestyle” vehicle than a work vehicle.

I agree. Definitely not a work truck / vehicle by any stretch of the imagination.

7600 pounds of towing capacity (what it claims on the spec sheet) is more than enough to tow a TJ around. It would be a nice vehicle to daily, take on mild trails (I.E. forest roads), and then tow the trail rig to the harder trails. I see the new truck doing fairly well considering how many regular wranglers they are selling right now.

It would struggle hauling a TJ up mountains I think, similar towing specs as a tacoma. @Chris my wife called it exactly the same fugly term you did lol, looks like it won't be replacing my Sierra anytime soon.

I'd rather have a Tacoma or a Sierra. That's a real truck in my opinion.

I could see something like this being useful for people who like to do serious overlanding where they want a Jeep, but they also want to be able to store a lot of stuff in the back. But still, at that point I'd rather just have a Wrangler and an odd-road trailer.

And it's very capable on the trails. They have already taken a convoy of 3 to the Rubicon trail back in September.

I think it looks exactly what I expected with the exception of the rear door shape and rear wheel well flare overhang. I'm not a fan of those parts or the four door for that matter. Two door with a little extended cab and I think that would look good. It will be expensive but everything is anymore so I will just admire from afar. It wouldn't tow my current camper anyway so I can't justify getting rid of my F-150 for one of these. If I was in the market for a mid-size truck, and they do a two door version, the Jeep is what I would get without a doubt.

I'm not much of a pickup person in the first place, but this is still about what I expected. I'm sure it'll still grab some appeal for people who really want a pickup, but also want to put the top down, but beyond that, I don't know that it will impress much.
