We use the 3-M system. Started with 1500-2000-3000-5000 then the white compound with the white pad, then gray glaze with the grey pad, and them the blue finishing glaze with the blue foam pad.

Made a little headway today. Starting to get my basement cleared out of jeep parts. Waiting on the big brown truck to drop off some more parts,and the sliders to get back from powder coat. If all goes well I will have it together over the weekend. If not My wife might be filing for a divorce!
Yes, it was a lot easier to paint them yellow now and if I didn’t like them paint them black again than it was to paint them yellow later and worry about a color match.
And I had a oh f&@k moment today! Bought a used gate off a 2000 to get rid of the vent in the back and apparently the lock cylinder is smaller! The 04 one doesn’t fit. Now I have to come up with a fix for that.
Glass is in, all new handles,weatherstripping, seals, mirrors. Roll cage padding and covers are done. Hopefully tomorrow night I will have the sliders and the bumpers ready to go.
