I'm looking for a steel or AL box with a good lock to bolt down in the bed where the rear seat was. Not really finding what I like online. Just like a decent-size toolbox, but clean and good looking. Diamond-plate or black or I don't really care--I can paint it... Obviously a lot smaller than a "truck tool box" (that's pretty much all I'm finding from the usual suspects), just big enough for binoculars, radar detector, purse, backpack... that sorta thing. The locking glovebox and console is for the birds--only had the top off for a week and already been broken into.

Hinging it forward would make it easily accessible from the front seats, but would make it quite awkward to access from the tailgate,--and visa-versa--so a little torn on that aspect of installation.

What have some of you done?

I used a UWS tool box for an ATV. It works well for me. The price seems to have gone up on it thought since I purchased mine. Might be able to find a similar sized one from a different brand cheaper.

On a related note, there is a company called Bolt (or something similar) that makes a replacement latch with a lock cylinder that you can set to match your ignition key, if that interests you. I like the idea, but I also like having a separate key so I don't have to turn the jeep off if it's running and I need to get in the box.
