I'm either looking at a new 16 Hard Rock but I love the orange and how this 14 is set up.

I don't know what to offer. It's a 14, 34k mile lease return(?) cloth interior, NAV, with a grip of aftermarket. The tires are fairly worn but still serviceable. It's an auto, has winch steel front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, wheels, tires, etc.

All in it looks the buisness for what I'm after. Hardly looks like the previous owner took it off pavement.

Dealer was high as a kite and cited an initial offer of $45k. I chuckled a bit.

What's a legitimate offer in your knowledgeable opinion?

I'll take the opportunity, as first, to point out that that is a JK, not a TJ...

I love that lame, completely non functional snorkel. Seriously, nothing pisses me off more than snorkels. They serve no purpose on a vehicle like that.

In all reality, a brand new JKU from the dealer is something like 44k I believe. So I wouldn't pay a DIME over that price for one that is used, regardless of the mods.

But hey, if you can afford it, get it. I'd love a JKU as a second vehicle, though I would never in a million years sell the TJ for a JKU.

I paid 37k for my brand new 2015 JKUR. It was a base model thought.

Another thought is how long will it take you to build a jeep to equal spec if you bought a stock one? Way easier to roll it into the payment at a extra $100 a month.
I'd say it's worth 40-42k? More will new tires.

Leased vehicle? Interesting. I thought I was the only one. I once leased a 2000 Dodge Dakota when they first came out and modified it to hell and beat it just as well. I traded it in for my first TJ and the dealership said nothing. I never bothered to check if modifying a leased vehicle is ok or not.





But in my opinion, I wouldn't buy a modified rig. I'd buy a stocker and modify it to my preferences.

It is 3 years old. Wranglers hold value but since you are the buyer.... 30% depreciation off the top to start. Modified is not always an upgrade. It came with bumper/rims/tires.... now it has different BALD tires which are way more expensive to replace than the stock rubber. It might LOOK cool but it is no more valuable than a stocker.

As posted above??? a stocker might be / is MORE valuable. You are the guy with cash. They are desperate to make a sale. If you go in glossy eyed they will rape you.

One thing to always keep focused on.... next week will bring a better buy. You are in control.
