Wow, that’s shocking (no pun intended). So I assume that this lack of inventory also pertains to replacement parts? Let’s say you need to rebuild a set of Fox shocks, can it be just as challenging to get a set of parts?

I knew about some of the OEM applications like the Ford Raptor and others. I guess I am just surprised that even after 3 years they haven’t recovered their inventory. Seems like this would leave a lot of people looking for other options.

If you supply OEM, nothing else gets done until that demand is met. Fox also wasn't that large not too long ago.

I don't know what all is affected. All I know is from the time they started letting the inventory go down until now it has been hard to get shocks.

Judging by the amount of Ford Raptors I've seen since moving out here to Arizona, they've got a lot of OEM demand to meet

Guessing you haven't seen all the OEM applications they are building and supplying for that get installed before they hit the dealerships?

That and about 3 years ago they switched to a new inventory system. They depleted as much inventory as they could to simplify how much has to be entered into the new system. The problem was the couple of weeks to bring the new system online went from a couple of weeks to several months and they didn't ramp up any production until it was done. They haven't recovered from that yet.

We went for about 8 months without any Fox shocks to do an outboard job.

Inventory and capacity is a funny thing. You build capacity based on demand (if you're smart) and you stockpile inventory to buffer the spikes in demand. IF you let inventory fall and you don't have any excess capacity, its impossible to catch up. Demand is always outstripping supply and you're running a backorder system. Its great, if you are a great company with a sterling reputation (enough that people don't go elsewhere). Eventually, people will start to go elsewhere vs waiting. I hope they figure it out soon.

And, being a Tier 1 to the OEMs is a GIANT pain in the Ass. Been there, done that, but they took my t-shirt back when I left.

It's not just OEMs causing problems. I ordered a set of Kings in July for my truck. Original delivery timeline was 6 weeks. I just go an update that puts best case in October (total of 16 weeks if they don't delay any further). Not just shocks as well. I've been waiting on a bike frame for about 8 weeks now. I think the entire global supply chain is disrupted.

It looks like the RR 5/8 shaft 11" travel smooth bodies are available. Your other option is to buy the LSC adjuster separately. As long as you're having the shocks tuned, it'll add 5 minutes of work onto tuning each shock. 2 in stock: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/frs-81500074-kit

I figured you were, but I also don’t work on these things for a living, I’ve never used a plasma cutter (let alone a welder) in my life, and maybe someone who was more informed would have picked up on that, but clearly I am not that guy.

Yup. It's no problem to add it later although it might effect your tune if the tune didn't factor in that you'd be adding it after the fact.
