Question about flat towing after new gear install

They probably didn’t expect you to figure that out since they did all the work and buttoned it up before you could see their work. I would definitely find out what’s going on with that and have them change it on their dime.

The receipt just has the amount payed. The Invoice actually shows that 4.88 gears were to be installed in both my Dana 30 and 44.

I wouldn't be happy with that. I wonder if they were sent the wrong ones or they ordered the wrong ones and decided to just install them.

I spoke with the shop owner a few minutes ago. He did a good job of calming me down and making this right. A significant refund along with shop credit if I want the gears switched out for 4.88’s or any other work done.

Man that just wouldn't sit right with me...what was the explanation?

He took ownership of the mistake. He ordered 4.56 gears even though I had clearly asked for 4.88. I guess he never double checked the work order to see the problem. It was just that, a mistake. I believe him when he says that it was a mistake and he wasn’t trying to intentionally hide anything.
It definitely didn’t sit well with me either, but I was given a sincere apology, a significant refund, and a large amount of shop credit in an attempt to make it right.

Mistakes do happen, the main thing is the shop owner was willing to work with you on a solution when it was brought to his attention that the gears installed weren't as purchased.
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt as we all have our moments. It's when it happens a second time that we have to reevaluate our choice of shops.
