Re-gear advice

Definitely not uneven throttle. Something is wrong with my locker for sure. Now it is occasionally clicking even while driving in a straight line.

Time to yank her out for a closer inspection.

OK just to be certain before I order the gears I'm going with 33s on a nv3550 and I'm going to go with 4.56 gears will I still be able to do 70 on the high way comfortably?

Absolutely. When we give gear ratio recommendations they're always made with highway speeds in mind unless otherwise stated. 4.56 with 33" tires and 5-speed NV3550 will be an awesome onroad/offroad combination.

I just went for a drive yesterday and had no issues with 70-80 on the highway with a NV3550, 4.56 gears, and 31" tires.

Your Aussie is supposed to unlock when you turn the wheels. Am I missing something?
Even in 4wd?

Per Aussie:

"Depending on the situation, the locker can either uncouple the driving gears i.e. if the differential force is acting on a wheel to turn it faster than the wheel is being driven by the differential and engine, then that side can freely disengage and unlock providing differential action"

Aussie also notes that their primary locking "mechanism is "(d)ynamic in that the more power that is applied, the harder it locks so it doesn't need large bias forces operating on it to keep it locked"

So yes, the locker will unlock when bias force is overcome by differential forces. The difference in most autolockers (vs a standard diff or LSD) is that the axle shaft that is locked to the carrier can never spin SLOWER than engine/drivetrain speed.

In 2wd it unlockes during the slightest turn (clicking ratcheting sound.) In 4wd when I turn the wheel the same slight amount, it makes incredibly loud popping and banging noises as it unlocks. Feels like it is binding terribly. Brand new yukon chromolly shafts with brand new Spicer 5-760x joints.

The popping, banging and binding are so bad it doesn't want to come out of 4wd. Seems like it is screwing with the linkage and constantly needs adjusting. Hence I just got a cable shifter I'm waiting to install
