I really need to do this! How do I remove that up shift light bulb? That's thing annoys the hell out of me!

You just need a Philips head screwdriver and 30 minutes. Here are a bunch of threads on the subject, some of which talk about the procedure.

It's super easy. Just pull instrument cluster out, then pull the bulb out and you'll be good to go.

Too many yellow lights in my dash. 4WD, shift light, gas light(she's always on empty) and the MIL most of the time! Lol one less will be awesome!

I still am in disbelief that they had a shift light... Like we're to stupid to know when to shift.

I opened up the cluster... It was like 30 screws, maybe more. I put electrical tape over my airbag and CEL.

I don't need it telling me I have P0421 every time I drive it.

I also pulled the fuses for the airbags so my boy can ride in the front.

No converter? My 97's cel is on and has a code 23 because my cat is MIA.

I think I just need new O2 sensors.

Or a new converter.

What irritates me is that the previous owner could have had it all fixed for free under the 80k mile emissions warranty. I bought it at like 80,500 miles.

The previous owner of mine took the converter off when it went bad and had a pipe welded in its place. Mine runs so well, and starts right up in sub zero temps, I'm just going to leave it as is till summer.

Doesn't yours have the key lock in front of the transfer case lever to turn the passenger airbag off? My '99 does. When the grandkids ride in front, I just turn it off. If I remember I turn it back on when the wife rides with me.

Nope. They quit installing those in 2002 or so.

Mine doesn't have one on my 2005.

Nope. They quit installing those in 2002 or so.

Dang. The things you learn on the internet. It's pretty handy actually. They keep a shift light and take away the air bag switch.

Upshift light must be a regional thing. Never seen one on a Canadian TJ

Maybe Chrysler decided that Canadians are smart enough to figure out when to shift on their own.
