I've searched for this subject here and found threads about alternatives like the Kia pump and the other vehicles that used it.

I've read that the Rubicon Dana 44 locker needs about 5 psi, or maybe like 3-8 psi, correct? So I got to thinking about low pressure pumps, like for fish tanks. After a bit of research I found this: https://binacapumps.com/model-bp-505-new-small-vacuum-pump/

Its max operating pressure is 0.4 bar, which is 5.8 psi. It comes in 12v or 24v. The specs say it's 3.5w, which is only about 0.3 amps at 12v, or 0.6a at 24v. It's rated for continuous operation. I'm trying to find out if it's ok to operate continuously at 0 cfm air flow, and if it releases pressure when turned off.

I see a few 24v units on eBay and I could get a 12/24v step up regulator.

I also found this one. https://www.sciplus.com/12vdc-mini-diaphragm-air-pump-49508-p
It's 12v. Max pressure is 350mm Hg, which converts to about 6.8 psi.

Assuming that the pumps could operate continuously at zero flow, do you think this would work for the Rubi locker?

Theres a cross number somewhere for a pump that is identical but it comes out of a kia sorento. Look into that. I believe it was first referenced over on jeep forum maybe 2 or 3 years ago. Plenty of them at the junk yards

Check out this thread from not too long ago. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/rubicon-locker-pump-substitute.23246/

Like I mentioned, I found the thread about alternatives like the Kia pump. I called my local yard and their Sorento's already have the front carriers removed. I'm also looking the other makes and models in that thread.

So I'm researching other options.

In that case, check http://car-part.com. You'll find one there, I promise.

The list in that other post was a scattershot of Makes and models, with no real info on years. I've been trying gather more details on which Makes/Models/Years match the Rubicon part. Here's the doc I started in case you're interested. Here's the doc I started in case you're interested.

I think that the KIA Sorento is 03-08, P/N 510303E100. But I haven't tested any of these so I can't be certain.

The KIA Sorento pump may be cheaper if you can find one from a junk yard but for new the last I checked they are going for more than the Rubicon pumps new.

I got a Rubicon pump in last week and the box is stamped 2019 from MOPAR so I think it's safe to say that we'll still be seeing new manufacture pumps for at least a few more years.

Cool, that's worth having one or two on the shelf if you plan on hanging on to a Rubicon .

The Kia pump is exactly the same pump. I purchased one from a wrecker in Toronto and verified it's identical, size, holes, PSI (5 psi pressure...not vacuum), except wire cable connector is not the same. As of April 2021 the new Kia part is $1,042 Canadian through a dealer. 3 in stock in Canada.

Does anyone have one or two spare air locker actuators? My front actuator just blows air right through it. My rear is intermittent and I've verified it's the actuator. If I crimp (needle nose plyers) the air line in the diff at the actuator, the pump pressurizes and turns off. [email protected]

I have a spare pump but not actuator. Thinking of pulling and selling my front locker and pumps and going full auto locker. Trail Jeep anymore. Never sees snow or roads other than around town.
