Someguys 04

got my girlie home today. they gave her a sedative b4 release so she'll be lazy the rest of today. they say she never got real sick so thats a positive but she is a bit shaky and weak. she's a tiny thing and they been pumpin her full of Boost for the last few days to start gettin weight back on her.
now to keep her occupied enough to not think about what she thinks she's missin.

gonna try and knock out some welding on the trailer.
maybe play with the exhaust, but i really need to dump the struts so i can cycle stuff ......it's tight, dealing with uppers that go within a couple inches of the tub to a back 1/2 framework that provides less space to work between.
All sounds good! When she's ready, getting involved in something that will keep her mind in the right place is important. It's got to very tough physically and mentally to kick it.
You're on the right track!

weather went back to shitsville.....so not much accomplished this wk. did manage to get a fair portion of welding done on the trailer frame and chopped back the exhaust on the jeep and tucked the muffler back to about where it should sit. the drone is buggin me so i made up this baffle stick and shoved it up the tube. it's just enough to knock down the drone. i ended up using 3 of 4 perforated discs. got 1 other design i'm gonna try more like a straight through resonator.

wanting to put in a trans temp sensor i can snag 1 from summit but wondering about the fitting for the pan.
that pan looks pretty thin, will it take some weld? or is brazing the way to go? brazing is something i've not ever attempted.
or i could pony up the 49$ for 1 with a drain hole i could repurpose.

and i got a line on trailer wheels 15 x 6 silver mods w/ 225/75/15, class E's , brand new rim and tire combo, 135$ a wheel. gonna try and snag 4-5 tomrw or mon. from bigmikestruckstuff they are about an hr n 1/2 away.

You could tig weld the bung in but brazing it is easy and would work great.

The issue here is if you run a belly pan tucked up tight, you end up with very little room between the sensor and engine skid.

now that's a bulkhead fitting yes? no leaks from it, no issues?
is there not enough room to have that up in the side wall instead of the pan instead of the lower corner?

This is the Dorman pan, below, with a screw in plug. If I moved it up I'd have to braze it. I've tried bulkhead fittings and they always end up leaking. I've got another pan for my LJ. That one will get brazed when I'm ready to install the temperature gauge.

I thought there was a pan for the 42RLE that was found that had the bung installed already?

My motorcycle exhaust had a very similar baffle. Interesting to see it built for your setup

ya they got all kinds of gizmo's for bikes and them small turbo cars.

i just worry about any back pressure it might cause. i got some expanded metal and a 1.5" tube i'm gonna perforate. i'll put expanded metal disc's on each end then pack (loosly) the outside of the smaller pipe with steel wool between the screens and slide that in there and see if it's better, worse or sufficient. that'll act more like a straight through resonator and should be even less restrictive.

well my girls doin good, startin to eat more, got back to work this wk................much better attitude and so much nicer to deal with her and not the evil drunken counterpart. so far so good.

got to work on the trailer a bit yesterday. tarps and plastic just trap moisture so i've had it sitting open, it's gonna wet either way by condensation or direct contact, but at least open it can dry quickly...............anyways i started cleaning all the surface rust that's starting and getting what i could covered in primer. got about a 1/4 of it. and it's storming this mornin so i doubt i'll get any further today.

i guess it's time to try and dig out all the old goo from my trailer hubs and get those reassembled and i want to pull new wires through the tubes for the brakes and i still have to test those magnets.

Glad things are going well and it's great that she's doing well.

It's been raining here for the past two days. Hopefully May will be a nicer month weather wise.

That's good news! Getting back to work and out of the house is big step.

Have you used or tried a portable carport? They breath well and would give you a place to work even if it was pouring rain. You can leave the ends open or close it up. I anchored the feet on mine with a special bolt that can be removed from the concrete, leaving no hardware in concrete if or when you remove portable carport.

yes i have, but the neighbors already deal with my axles and frames and noise. a party tent for my project would just be an excuse for me to have more junk.
we are thinkin of gettin the hell out of ohio soon, and at this point it's just gonna be more crap to pack or sell. if we were gonna stay i rebuild the garage 4x bigger.

Bigger garage, absolutely!
You need a nice dry spot to work your magic! :D

i wanna go west, south west but she wants south florida. maybe me and @Jerry Bransford can go gator wheelin. i don't mind it'll be a lot flatter ride to the west for trips than from ohio.
i'll be able to tinker yr round and i like to fish more than hunt since i'm an old bastard now and plenty of that to do down there.

i got a haul to go wheelin now so runnin out of state for long wkends is just fine by me. but tennessee and s carolina are not out of the option range so maybe i won't get stuck to deep.

i got downgraded when i moved in with her. i had a 2.5 car with lofted ceiling and 8" door......she's got a 1957 car shed and i almost scrape the sport bars on the door with 33's....... the 35's gotta be almost empty to fit in.
