Steering wheel whines when turning it

Here is what it sounds like. I haven’t been able to check the fluid level yet.

Its the firewall grommet. Stick your head under the dash and listen too it to confirm. Silicon spray will stop it without collecting all the dirt spray lithium grease will and plays nice with rubber.

Nevermind. That does not sound like a power steering squeal. Maybe investigate the steering shaft as others are suggesting.

That sounds like you have low power steering fluid.

As posted last night he sprayed the rubber boot the steering shaft passes through with a lubricant and cured the noise.

So it turns out there was a TSB about this. I'll attach it.

I like the technical description they gave it: "Steering Column Boot Squawk".

My boot squeaked after replacing the bearing bracket.
I had the boot extended outwards towards the engine.
All I had to do was push it in towards the interior.
