I've seen some seriously beautiful bumpers out there on TJ’s/LJ’s. Most of them are homemade but a few companies out there are manufacturing some bad ass bumpers. (Savvy, UCF, Gen Right)

Either way, let's start a thread here dedicated to beautiful bumpers you've seen on TJ’s/LJ’s.

Simple, homemade, and I love the tow hook design.

I like to reimagine the tow hooks machined with the raw tooling marks left untouched and the bumper made of aluminum.

Regardless, it’s still an awesome looking bumper.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While the simple lines of the bumper are clean and efficient, they are not able to be duplicated in high strength aluminum without considerable expense. It would have to be formed in -0 temper and then fixtured and heat treated due to the very tight bends.

The tow points are made incorrectly based on sound rigging standards in that you don't want the width of the eye for the pin to constrict the ability of the shackle to align itself with the line of pull. They look good, they are functionally illiterate and the welds were done to mimic Tig which is a very poor way to do Mig. I'd also like them more if the holes lined up where they put the two halves together.

Because I've seen thousands done that way. Crap welders think incorrectly that the "stacked dimes" appearance of an aluminum Tig weld is something to emulate so their internet buddies will ooooh and aaaaah over them. The reason that aluminum Tig welds look the way they do is a result of how you weld aluminum and should not be used on steel.

I homed in on the tow hook things. The radius on the outer edge will increase the load on the bolts un necessarily if the angle changes even a few degrees to a side pull. The hole was oxy or plasma cut with a in correct lead in that resulted in a divot, not good for a soft shackle. Looks good but could be dangerous. I cannot figure what the line in the center of the hole is, did they smooth out the the cut with a die grinder from each side or is it a seam, like two pieces welded together. Looks like a lot of fab time was spent on the part.
 
moto built looks nice, I gotta get a rear bumper so I can ditch my tow hitch, kills my shins every time I try and get something out of the Jeep.

You are sooo funny. I tend to get in a hurry when working on my own stuff and the one place I can speed things up is under the hood. I slapped together a rear basket for my TJ and the welds were solid but looked like crap. I got a lot of flack over it. I did the rack over as it was too big and I took my time and intentionally "dime stacked" the outer/ seen welds. The comments were, ohh you finally learned how to weld, or wow you have improved.

The base and outer face of the the tow point appear to be cut from 3/8" and bent 90 degrees. The inner face is just a tab that meets the base and welded along that. The two holes did not line up at the inner mating faces.

The leverage against the bolts could be improved considerably if the radius were to go away.

You can always tell if someone knows how to weld if they are impressed by stacked dime Mig welds. If they are impressed, they know shit about welding.

BTW, I ahve these drawings in dxf or dwg available for anyone who wants it. I also have the same bumper with holes for a YJ (the square head light one). The bumper above has a single brake bend in it, I have modified the files to eliminate the bend and do a weld instead, easier for diy'ers.
