Yeah, and while waiting to turn left. I'm turning right and I can't see down the road past their vehicle, and when I pull up a bit, so do they and keep blocking my view.
My DD is a F-250 4x4. When I come to stop light or stop sign and I have a car turning either direction I stop short so they can see the traffic coming towards them and turn when clear. Same thing if Iām the one turning. I can see over them. Itās common courtesy like keeping a door open so the person coming behind can walk in or out without reopening the door. Of course Iām a Boomer and was taught to show respect to other people. The newer generations have been taught that itās all them and their feelings.
Not boomer and I stand with you on all that.
My biggest pet peve in life right now that makes me want to punch babies, is drivers that just cant get how a 4 way stop works, and people that swerve waay the oposite direction when making a turn.
If you are making a right turn from the right turn lane in your F ing Camry , there is absolutely no reason to swing way left before making the turn.

I always tell my wife when I see something like this: "Swing that 40 foot fiver wide!"
Or when they turn left from the stop line without pulling out into the intersection and then almost hit me cutting into my lane when Iām stoped coming within inches of me. Also we have several intersections in town with 2 right turn lanes Idiots in the right most lane turn and immediately cut you off in your lane. Iāve been hit once when they immediately tried to occupy the space I was in. The wheel bolts on my F-550 did a number on the side of their car.
That's just one symptom of "corner cutting", and we have them everywhere here in Fla. I'm ALWAYS ready with one hand over the horn and one foot over the brake. In the 2 left turn lane situation, its pretty much guaranteed that the guy in the left most lane will turn 45 degrees, go straight to the "new" road, and turn another 45 degrees; instead of following the dotted arcs provided at most intersections like that. So he has to slow down to make that 2nd 45, and it looks like he's going to come through my driver's door while he's doing it. Meantime, the arc is the fastest possible way to drive - a constant acceleration through the whole thing instead of slowing down because you're too stupid to figure it out and insist on making a pair of 45s instead. GRRRRR - I see this one every friggin' day...

My LJ. I cut 88 lb off the rig by going with a Savvy front bumper and doing my rear frame raise with integrated bumper.

Oh yeah, I see that here on a daily basis. At just about every intersection the white line between the two lanes is worn down from being driven over so much buy the vehicle in the right lane cutting the apex and driving into the left lane.
Thereās a bright side to these high fuel prices. The property behind my shop has a massive steel building on it. Sound bounces off it very efficiently. Except when itās cold, I leave my shop doors open when Iām here. Nightly and especially Fri and Sat I hear the squealing tires of the idiots with money to burn on tires. The intersection down from my shop is covered is circular tire marks along with the intersections I go through on the way to and from the shop. I seams to be a daily occurrence that I see new tire marks. Iāve noticed the last month or so that I donāt hear the noise and the tire marks are fading away. Seams that these idiots donāt have the money for their shenanigans. Enjoying the peace while it lasts.
Self explanatory. Idiot stopped barely in time, then had to back up.
I see that all the time. They simply have no idea how to handle a left turn with approaching traffic when light turns yellow.
In Wisconsin, during driver's ed in the 80s, we were taught that on a green light (no left turn arrow lit), we were to proceed into the intersection and wait for either a clearing in oncoming traffic, or the yellow light. If no clearing appeared, on the yellow light, ater oncoming traffic stopped, we completed our turn. A few years after I moved to Texas, I was driving with a young engineer in my employ sitting next to me. When I did that, he asked, "Do you realize that what you just did is illegal in Texas?" I said, "huh?"
We then had a discussion about it. He told me that when he did driver's ed (two decades later - in the 00s), they told him that it's illegal to proceed into the intersection (past the stop bar) until you have a clear path. I said I think he misunderstood the instructor, and explained the logic of the rule I learned, which is: at a busy intersection with no left turn light, it's often impossible to get a clearing in oncoming traffic. If what he was taught was true, no one would ever be able to get through, and traffic would just back up forever until rush hour was over. He acknowledged that the logic made sense but insisted that he had not misunderstood the instructor. I tried to look up the traffic laws at that time because I was dumbfounded that it could be that way, but I couldn't confirm or deny it when reviewing traffic code.
Has anyone else been taught not to proceed into the intersection without a clearing in oncoming traffic? I'd like to know if I'm that idiot driver for proceeding. Of course, I won't change my ways, but at least I'll know I'm an idiot.
