The official snowflake thread

Not censored at all. I just deleted all the posts about the gender word bans in California. There was a bit of political undertone to it, and truthfully I don’t want this thread to turn political as it was not intended to be a political thread.

That being said, I will be more careful about the links I post!

It is social media 100%. Before social media they didn’t have a public outlet to complain to and the rest of the world wouldn’t know or care.

Andy Warhol predicted in the 60's that in the future everyone would have their 15 minutes of fame. With the advent of social media along with the internet his prediction is becoming reality. I cannot believe some of the things weak people whine and complain about or the people who listen to them. The bottom line is that life is unfair, tough and full of bumps in the road. The sooner one realizes this reality, accepts and deals with it, the more they are prepared to deal with surviving.

Sounds like that prediction has come true.

I mean I understand complaining about how your property tax has gone up by huge amounts or other legitimate life issues like that. But when people go online to complain about how they are deeply offended that a movie character is constantly smoking a cigarette... that just blows my mind.

There are definitely legitimate things to complain about as you mentioned but much of what we hear in the media is from losers for losers. People who think this country is horrible have never seen or lived in some of the shit hole places on this earth where your life is worth about as much as a pack of cigarettes. The college kids are mostly indoctrinated by tenured professors who have socialist/communist leanings. Many would be summarily executed in other countries for speaking out against the government. North Korea, China and others come to mind. As much as people say how much they hate this country I have never seen anyone give up their citizenship to live in a 'better' country.

And that's precisely it. If you check out the news (err... tabloids I mean), they only like to report this nonsense because it's clickbait, and it works.

If they weren't reporting it, chances are no one would care about it. But since they do report it and shove it in our faces on the daily, I'm forced to sit here and wonder what in the hell is so wrong with people that they just seem to complain over the simplest little things.

First world problems I guess. Like you said, if a lot of these people lived in a less fortunate country, I don't think you'd hear a peep from them. They've have more important things to worry about other than whether or not some woman is publicly breastfeeding her child or perhaps some TV character is smoking.

My goodness... what the hell is up with shit like this? Apparently someone found a way to turn this movie into Quentin Tarantino being against women or something?

It blows my mind how people these days can literally make a big deal out of nothing.
