Tips on restoring fender flares?

Seems the SEM trim paint is the way to go for those with Rubicon's as I don't see any exact replacement's for these like the Sports and such

I don't have these kind of flares on my TJ, mine are metal now, but I have them on the JK, and they are huge in the front, same material from what I can tell (I didn't lab test the polymer/plastic).

This stuff worked big time. I was extremely impressed for $20. I would try a free heat gun first, but if if that went gray again as some suggest in a month or two, I'd look at this. Make sure and clean with dish soap big time before.

a dab of old engine oil on a rag, every time i change it and rub them down, keeps um black until it dries out again.

just barely a dab, is enough to replace the oils the sun dried out of them, i'm not soaking them down.....vegetable oil would do the same thing, just not last more than a few days........i've never noticed any transfer from them but i don't lean on my fenders or wear button down shirts and dockers either.

I threw everything in the books at mine, even Mothers "back to black", had zero effect. The 15 years before I owned my Jeep it sat outside most of it's life, I doubt there's a product that could have helped them. Understand they were not black, they really weren't even grey, they were so faded they looked like an ugly white.

PBS Boot Cleaner and Protector. 2 diff chems. They use it to restore the rubber leading edges on aircraft. Follow the directions and they will be as good as they can be. If you want to go cheap use a melamine magic eraser. Just keep washing it off as you go and I mean it. Scrub 6 inches and Immediately rinse it off.

I also recommend a nut setter tool to redo all the nutserts. Also, this DeWalt impact driver right angle accessory will get those flares off super quickly.

Mine were too far gone...faded and all scratched up. I had to buy new ones. They were a huge pain in the ass to change. I did buy the tools that @skrelnik recommended above that made the job a little easier. I also found a ratcheting box wrench helped in some of the really tight areas.
