TJ as a family vehicle?

I have 2 kids 9 and 4. They would revolt if I sold the TJ. They have gotten used to cramming in on vacations and wouldn't have it any other way now. It's always nice to see that when we leave to go somewhere, they usually beat us outside and are waiting by the jeep instead of the wife's car.

I drove my two boys to school in a 80 Corvette when they were 8 and 10. Now that was impractical.
I have 5 grandkids now, ages 7 to 15. The oldest rode in my first TJ when he was 4 and told me the noisy soft top gave him a head ache.
He learned to drive a stick shift in my current TJ, and in a few months will want to borrow it.
The younger kids like summer rides with the top off and climb over the side to get in.

My 2005 TJ just hit 101,000 miles, so I know it still has a lot of life in it. And while not ideal, it IS doable loading my 3 month old son in and out.
My wife tried it last night, it takes her longer, but she did it.

And we've only been taking the TJ out of we want to go out for lunch/dinner. Otherwise, we take her 2012 grand Cherokee.

We still owe more than I like on it, but I'm now making double payments on it to pay it off. It just hit 64,000 miles as well.

It's probably smarter to have the wife drive the better family vehicle. She has a longer drive to work anyway.

Not having a 2nd payment would allow me to buy more fun things too.

Dave Ramsey would probably say sell the jeep and buy a sedan.

Back in 2013 I traded my Rubicon and my wife's Rav4 for a Honda Civic for her. I swore I would never have another Jeep again...I've had three since...the current one is the keeper.
