What did you do to your TJ today?

My current list of leaks are this:

1. Valve cover gasket
2. Rear main seal
3. Transmission fluid pan

I plan on doing 3 this weekend. I could do 1 in the next few weeks. I have no idea when I'll get around to the RMS.

May I recommend doing the valve cover gasket first. Mine was so bad the underside of the engine & trans was an oily mess. Once I changed it and cleaned the residue I found that there were actually no other leaks.

There's dark red fluid on my garage floor right now. The transmission absolutely is leaking. I'm having some weird issues with the transmission right now and I heard that the 32RH transmissions have issues when the fluid is low.

Those look a lot like the tires I used to run on my old CJ5 back in the 80s. Great mud tires, not so much in sand though as I got stuck in my sandy yard with them. What brand and size are they?

36x12.5r15 TSL radials. I ran the same on my cj5 in the 90s. Mud, rocks, sand, snow. Never had a problem with any of that. That's why I have them on my TJ.

I ran the old Gateway Buckshots in Q78 15 and their Q78R 15 back in the 80's and early 90's.

Sure do miss buying 4 of them for $500.00 mounted and balanced.

These are what they have now. I just can't justify the price.

The TSL ain't cheap that's for sure. I ran a set of Buckshot Mudders on my first 4x4, a 76 fj40. That was back in the 80s.

Is it leaking from the connection to the cooler in the new radiator you installed?

Nope, it is leaking from the trans oil pan area.

The skid plate is getting dropped this weekend, thoroughly cleaned, the AT pan is getting the gasket replaced as well as a fluid change, and the transfer case fluid is getting changed too.

I want to thoroughly clean everything so that if there is a leak elsewhere, it is easier to track down.

drilled the new old windshield to mount some hacked up side trim

Worked on modifying and mounting the cavfab sliders.

It comes with a spacer welded on for the raised torque box section but it's not high enough. And the sliders only have 4 mounting holes underneath. So, I made some spacers and drilled some more holes. Again, don't mind my super sloppy welds. It just needs to be held in place.

I didn't get one of the nutserts set quite right and it's spinning, so I'll need to address that when I take it off to paint. But not bad.

Mine were Co Op Grip Spurs in a 7.00 x 15 if I remember right. I think I bought 5 at $75 each mounted and balanced. This would have been about '82. My CJ5 was a '80 with the GM 4 banger so the smaller tires worked well on it. Until I backed into a deep sand corner of the yard to turn around and all 4 dug down in about 3 seconds. I spent the rest of afternoon digging it out.
