Bought a rare set of Inca Gold full doors. The PO had installed replacement hinges that were black. Had to fix that which led to new door bushings and the locks needed rekeying. the door handles needed replacing. At that point I said WTF, and just decided to do a lot of postponed touchup.

So the results are in. The 48hour cruise on the USS New York is over. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Absolutely amazing.
I won’t bore you with the details but what you guys wanna know is how happy is Ben with his Rubicon build.

By the looks of all the photo’s I have seen so far, that smile, I believe is permanent. I was involved in the contract manufacturing millions of microelectronic hybrids for the AEGIS missile system for the D.O.D. It has been an honor to be of service to the US ARMED FORCES! It’s amazing how a Jeep makes one feel like a kid again. 🇺🇸

Outstanding!!! Fine looking Engineman 2. I was in '69 - '75. No home port, but spent many days in Little Creek - home of the East Coast amphibs (is the Crocodillo Club still standing?) Got out as an ET1. First thing I bought was a '74 Honda 750. Rode it year round to school (Go Terps!). Bought a '78 CJ-7 as a graduation present. Your son makes me proud!!
 
Ok a few small ones.

We got to be in the Main Space when the engines were fired up. Double ear protection and coveralls. We watched them fire 2 V16 Colt-Pielstick There are 4 on board the NY and my son, Ben and his bestie, Jerry, yes Ben and Jerry, are in charge of Main 1 that houses these two. They are massive and awesome. They dry crank the engine 3 minutes to prelube the cylinders just like I do my Shovelhead.

The two laughing are my cousin Sean and my brother from another mother Rory. Both played a huge role in building the character my son is.

Tomorrow we chill and make thanksgiving dinner for Ben and a few other Sailors. Sunday he goes back to the ship and we head home. He will be home (NY) by Christmas for a two week leave.

While home we will go see how that Rubi wheels.

Well, I don't have any pictures, because it was 28deg this morning.

Took BB to Trenton to the car wash.

Got the underside cleaned as well as most of the outside.

Cleaned under the hood and flushed out both sides of the frame.

Did I say it was cold !!!!

I know how you feel its 18 deg when I went outside this morning 🥶..... oh hang on mine is Celsius hahaha 😎
 
I installed a Motobilt spare tire carrier delete and relocated my license plate. I need to shorten the wires and rewire my third brake light.

Worked a bit on removing the passenger fender. A couple of the clips broke on the battery tray, so I made my own access hole. The fender was shot anyway because of rust on the top that had been repaired once at some point.

I figured out that it was worn/broke motor mounts that allowed the engine to move and push the fan into the radiator. I can move the rubber up and down inside the metal mount.

So smoke machine showed up today, works great by the way for $70!! Anyway did both lines coming from LDP & found a small leak rear pcv valve to crankcase. Also around the throttle body gasket but I don't think that would throw a code? Have a new gasket anyway just have to install it.
So then go back to the tank & its straight barreling out of the damn gas cap?!! Replaced with a brand new stock one for like $65 no more than 2 damn years ago. The o-ring is all cracked looking closely. I'm like seriously?!!! Nothing coming from around the tank that I could see anyway. Still not explaining the pinched evap line code?
 
Didn't do any maintenance or modifications, but did take it to Coppinger Cove yesterday and today.

Spent the last 3-4 hours pulling my dead TJ out of a bottom because a motor mount failed and pushed my fan into my almost new aluminum radiator 🤦‍♂️. Thankfully my brother has a very well built JK's with a high horsepower engine.


Once I get all the pictures off the drones and from everyone else, I'll post a trip thread.

Yes that looks like Cooper Springs. Man he was stuck.
