What did you do to your TJ today?

Make sure you bring your life vest this time;)

Don't worry.

John will be prepared 😁

And now that I’ve decided trimming the spring perch is a tomorrow ‘slack off at work’ task, I may as well relocate the locker pumps to the engine bay. Something that I’m sure past me said would be a task for future me. Thankfully neither of these tasks should take too much time, and I can throw the tires and wheels on the truck to get them balanced again.

Took it in for a front end alignment after the complete front end rebuild and locker install. It was pretty close, but not perfect, as I had setup the new tierod to match the old one as best I could. I also had them re-bleed the brakes - I knew there was a tiny bit of air in the driver's side caliper that just wouldn't come out with my vacuum bleeder, and since it was going in anyway, I splurged and had them do it. The brake pedal feel wasn't bad, but it just wasn't quite right - now it is.

In any event, the old front end wasn't loose by any means, but the new one is tighter, really nice to drive.

If anyone wants to read the boring blow-by-blow of this whole affair, it starts here and goes on for four five pages:

I accumulated the parts for this project over several years, then finally dove in right after my return from Egypt, mid-February until 2 days ago when I finally was able to drive the Jeep out of the garage and give my wife her parking place back.

Finally pulled the trigger on the suspension rebuild. Have had a great experience with OME on my 1st gen Tacoma so went with DPG offroad kit w/ the core4x4 camp series arms, currectlync steering, replacing ball joints and axle u-joints, bearings, basically anything that comes out new will go back on.

Should be around ~2in lift on the TJ really excited to get into it all. Running 31s now which are brand new so going to keep those. Once my credit card recovers it'll be auxbeam panel and lighting.

The pile of Jeep parts grows.
Just received ORO Swayloc ,BMB body lift, JKS MML, Savvy engine skid and now just waiting for the Savvy xfer case skid to show up(Gerald mentioned shipping next week) then it’s install time.

I also have 4” Currie F/R springs to install.
Looking to move to 35’s but debating about keeping or ditching the stock Rubi lockers when I re-gear. I’ve had ARB’s before in the TJ as well as stock electric lockers in a JKUR so trying to decide which way to go….

I also just got 31” tires, upgrading from 29”. I went with Kelly Safari AT tires. I feel like they still have a good aggressive tread for an AT, and they were budget friendly.

I’m going with a minimalist lift, and ordered H&R 1” lift coils, 0.75” coil spacers, Rancho RS5000x shocks, new Moog rubber coil isolators, and the speedo gear change. I should get those installed in the next few weeks.

So far even without the lift, I’m surprised how well the 31” tires fit for daily driving, considering its has the stock springs that are now 24 years old.

Painting the new skid. I’m a terrible painter so feel free to rip into it.

Looks better than the rusty thing under mine.

Been driving Ol' Blue around the last week since replacing the coil pack and plugs. She's running pretty good. Got a u-joint starting to get a little play on the portside steering knuckle. So, as Blue doesn't see any hard wheeling and I hate changing any u-joints, I've decided to try to out the ZJ CV axles. And as I'm going to have to pull the hubs anyway, going with a new set of Timkens. The hubs showed up this morning but Fed Ex says maybe Monday on the axles.

I'm hanging onto the original axles in case I decide I don't like the CVs.

After running the 4” JKS spring for 2.5 years I finally replaced them with something that doesn’t bow in and hit the bump stop cup.
The 4” RockJock have a little more length to them and after install they look and fit much better. Guess the JKS will go in the bin.

New front sway bar bushings. I had side to side movement & when I'd disconnect, it pivoted very easily
