I know there are many forums answering this question but I need help. I had noticed a leak in my rear differential, the Pinon seal I believe, I didn't give attention to the differential fluid level , in which causing it to grind on gears and eventually blowing out the (rear)Axel and me having to tow the vehicle back to my home.
what do I do with my rig?
I daily drive it however not to hardcore offloading intermiediate
Specs:
2003 Tj Sport X 4. 6 cylinders
My axels currently : FRONT stock dana 30 and REAR stock dana 35 (which is the one that blew) all geared at 3.07 which I've read on the forum is horrible when running 33's which makes up for everything (going so slow).

After this issue occured, so many questions came to mind. Was this leak caused by the un matched ratio of the weight I've added to my vehicle recently. Since I have purchased it I have added a lot of "armor"- fender, sliders, carrier, etc. Which made me go a little slower also adding abuse? I got quote from a various body shops to rebuild the Axel for around 700-$1000 which is already high, I looked upon everywhere to find a replacement that will bolt right in and save me some bucks but is it all worth it. Im in the grand's almost why not save my $$ for quality? It was my daily driver but I have another vehicle for transportation so this issue is not urgent.

I have decided I am going to be already spending the money for a new Axel I might as well go with the right ratio for my vehicle (looking at 4.56) and add a locker for the rear. This would mean I would need a carrier for my dana 30 and the whole gearing kit ? correct ? to match the ratio of the new Axel (which I was planning to choose "eastcoastgearsupply" Ford tj 8.8 Axel swap)

Is this a good idea you guy's tell me:
front dana 30: new carrier and gears (4.56)

rear Ford 8.8 Axel 4.56 with a locker

so the Axel is gonna run me $2400 and I found a shop to install it for $150

Now I needed help on where to purchase the carrier and gear for 4.56 dana 30 tj . How much should that be to re gear a front dana approximately? Is this a good idea overall to fix the differential rear breakage and the slow vehicle. If I don't do new gears and get purchase this ford 8.8 Axel with 3.07 and keep my dana 30 at 3.07 would that be pointless besides getting it on the road but still being a slow shit bug? Is it stupid to be spending 2,000 for an Axel that is rated to 3.07 which I heard is shit, is this low ratio the reason problem's occur like this leak?

Please help thank you anyoneeee

If I don't do new gears and purchase this ford 8.8 Axel with just 3.07 and keep my dana 30 at 3.07 would that be pointless besides getting it on the road but still being a slow shit bug? I was just thinking this route cost wise? Is it stupid to be spending 2,000 for an Axel that is geared to 3.07 which I heard is shit, is this low ratio the reason problem's occur like this leak or low ratio and heavy car with bug tires bad for the life of the vehicle?

The cheap way is to find a Dana 35 axle with 3.07 and swap it in. Other than that, you have several options. The obvious answer is a gear change. That will depend on which trans you have. The 35 can handle easy wheeling on 33's so no need to drop 2400 on the 8.8. If you want a locker then you will have to upgrade the 35 to a Super 35 kit, which is hardened axles and a locker of various models. For 33's I would choose that route over the 8.8 swap. The 30 will work fine with 33's and moderate wheeling.
