I really dig the look of classic overland vehicles, like older Jeeps and Land Rover Defenders. They have simple industrial-looking wheels with a colored finish—which sometimes match the paint. The tires are narrow and don’t stick out from the fenders much, if at all.
I’ve been tossing around the idea of putting white wheels on my yellow 2006 rubicon and buying a more narrow 33” tire. I don’t have any particular wheel and tire combo in mind yet, so I’m open to suggestions.
My question is this: do you think this will have a cool vintage vibe, or do you think you’d see it and think “ew, what did they do to that poor Jeep.”
I’ve also thought about doing black wheels instead to match the top/fender flares, but I’m not sure yet.
I really do what your honest opinions.
And if you happen to find any pictures of a yellow TJ with white wheels, please send it my way.
Also, if you can think of any problems I’d run into with narrow wheels/tires, I’d like to hear them. I was thinking of a 15-16 inch wheel with 33 inch tires. I’m not sure what width—I’m hoping you guys can help me figure that out.
I’ll include a few images to give you an idea of what style I’m talking about.
Thanks!
