It just happened!

I just want to drive my Jeep again. If someone calls and I’m in the Jeep it will mean all is well! 🤣
You'll get there. Frustrating it won't make the same noise on stands. Time to find a dyno to borrow so you can simulate the load lol

It’s so cold here now it’s hard to work on it. I believe it was 18* with wind chill of 3* today. I need to run it for 15 minutes just to get the gear oil warm enough to drain. The more I read the more I think its the pinion itself. I need to look closely at the teeth

Are you thinking there's a bad bearing? Was there something that would cause a change there? Seal replacement, low gear oil, loose pinion nut, etc.?

I was thinking it might be a bad carrier bearing due to some rust flaking off in the passenger side axle tube. That could be the case, but by pinion I mean something wrong with one of the teeth. I already looked, but what I’m reading indicates I should look again, this time with the carrier removed.

@Irun. Here's what I was reading that made me think I have some damage on the high spot of a gear tooth. Mine is every 2-3 feet and only while accelerating, which leads me to think pinion. IDK though. It's 10* here right now and won't get over 15*, so it may be a week or more before the temps get above 32* and I get the balls to open it up.

The weather here in Va has been amazing lately. 60 degrees yesterday and 65 today. Because of that I took advantage of the warm temperatures and dug into the rear passenger side. After 8 hours, here's the result.. .

Finished up the final corner, front passenger, today. This completes the outside of the frame.. All that's left to do now is to Fluid Film the inside. All four corners have new Centric rotors and Raybestos Element 3 calipers. The front received Black Magic brake pads.

We used to get white stuff like that, but seems we never do any more. I have to say I miss it.
Same thing here in Nashville this morning.
I like the look of snow, but refuse to go out and drive in it. Traffic in the DC area is bad in good weather. When the weather turns bad, rain or snow, traffic is intolerable. One year it took my wife over 11 hours to make the 20 mile trip home from work!

Sounds like Seattle drivers.
