Please Learn From My Lack of Proper Insurance Coverage (Please Read)

I just went through the online quote for my lj at $20k. It was about $486 a year driving less than 4k a year with 84k on the odometer. It didn't ask about a lift. This is the modifications part of the online quote questions. I don't know if there are additional questions after binding the quote.

I did the online quote just now as well. I just clicked no modifications since none applied. I said pleasure vehicle at 3k miles a year stored in my garage and got a quote at $441. I placed the valuation of my Jeep at $17k. I currently pay $321/year through my regular insurance to be insured at KBB value.
I’ll most likely call them for a more accurate quote and coverage details.

I’m not sure if any insurance would cover if you rolled rock crawling. While it would be great, it doesn’t sound like a reality.

My main concern is the situation the OP is in. If I get t boned driving on the road I might get 8k for the vehicle.

My other concern is if they won’t pay the agreed upon value since it’s not “concours” condition.

I assume that there is some sort of reality check. If you sign up for 25k in coverage, submit photos of your rust free, shiny Jeep. Regularly submit photos and receipts as you make mods and if you get into a wreck you’ll be good.

If you sign up for 25k, send in no documentation, get in a wreck and an adjuster sees your rust bucket/angry grill, your gonna get bottom dollar.

You should for off road but read the policy. Most just exclude racing or competition and don't specifically exclude off road. Some may have a recreational exclusion but locally a member flopped a jk at Uwharrie and it was covered.

My jeep isn’t pretty. It has lots of scratches. It also has lots of expensive parts. If it gets smoked in a collision I want the agreed upon value to replace my expensive parts.

Hagerty called back with some more questions. They asked what all modifications were done and after telling them just the things below the frame, they politely told me the vehicle has excessive modifications and does not meet their criteria.

Probably an excellent insurance company if you buy a 30k stock rubicon though.

Got my quote after valuing my Jeep at 12k as a rough estimate, 573$ a year. That's about what I pay for liability only. I'll give them a call tomorrow to go over my mods and see if I qualify, but that's a great deal for the coverage I'd get compared to what I'm used to.

I've never actually had more than liability only. I bet it's nice not being afraid to be hit all the time, lol.

I pay an extra $475 per year for an additional $21,000 in coverage for the Jeep aftermarket parts.
It sucks to pay more, but if anything were to happen it would suck more.
GL

Liberty Mutual - The total is $1089 per year with $500k in coverage

Better Car Replacement™ $21
Excess Electronic and Customized Equipment $69 Veh 3 $3,000
Customizing Equipment Veh 3 $18,000

Spoke with Hagerty on the phone. They will cover up to $26700 without any receipts or itemized lists and for me this would be cheaper than my current insurance. I would like to try to get higher coverage so will need to work on making an itemized list.

They don’t consider labor towards the agreed upon value.

It's crazy how different people get different responses. I set my value at $30K and didn't have to send in a single picture, just talk to them on the phone about it. I do think having an existing policy makes it easier for them to add a jeep that's modified

I think we just need to an insurance company that covers high modifications. Be it Hagetry or something else.

Another person mentioned liberty mutual

I'm curious, what exactly did you tell them?

From experience and talking to other people, their picture and storage requirements vary state-to-state. I've had to send in pictures of all vehicles and their storage area.

I wonder if there's a benefit for decreasing our HP. Though I wouldn't mind upping mine to 190hp, but I'd almost definitely need a new transmission.

At a very minimum, if I were in this case, I would pay the initial consult fee to at least speak with a property damage lawyer to see if it would be economically feasible to pursue the full loss as opposed to what the insurance companies settle on. The consult fee is usually $50-150, depending upon the attorney. The additional amount recovered may be significantly higher.
This is my last resort but in my back pocket.

If you can prove worth then I would hope all would be settled. What are the actual repair costs? Can the frame be straightened?
I've collected a handful of invoices and receipts for the big ticket items and still consolidating everything that I can get my hands on to build some worth into it.

As of now, the body shop is estimating $4k in repairs. Body shop still has some details to add to the estimate. Frame check and fix is included and the body shop is confident it can be good as factory once it rolls off the frame machine.

I have Hagerty. I had to spell out exactly what parts are my jeep and suspension height, tire size etc... I also already had a policy for my classic car so this was just adding a second vehicle. They didn't question it at all. I have seen people get denied though and they usually were new customers without a current policy.
I would just read your policy/coverage word by word as to avoid any surprises if there ever was a need to file a claim and they see off road parts on it and begin to push back. My .02
