Help with the SwayLOC

I have 2 with slop with less than 3k miles on the set up, and 2 wheeling trips.

I am going to reach out to ORO but has anyone had that issue and swapped in a longer lasting alternative.

Can you expand on this statement? Where is the slop etc

The linings have begun falling out of 2 of the heims and one has completely fallen out. I have this installed for 5 months with less than 2k miles put on it if that. Noticed clicking recently last weekend. Found the liner issue today when I was cleaning it. Pics below one liner completely out and 2 more on their way.

Still a good product but they need better heims unless I did something wrong with my install.

I found @jjvw info on his replacement and similar symptoms. May give these a try but they are about $50 a piece.

That's a good idea!

Thanks for the feedback.

No problem. This is the only criticism I have on the setup.
Just wanted to provide feedback on these.

Mine is a weekend wheeler and garage queen so I want expecting these to come apart so quickly. I also don't have a mid arm set up like @jjvw where I may be pushing the limits of the heim travel. I still have stock control arms.

There are two things I know about why my ORO supplied heims didn't live long. The 12" front shock travel exceeded their misalignment capability. The FK joints I chose accommodated this. The second thing I found is that because I have the links in a stiffer arm position, the tail ends of the arms would bind against the joint at full shock extension. Lengthening the links a bit corrected this. Both of these issues were damaging the Heim joints and were the result of my unusually long front shock travel.

Did those heim joints come with the kit? For that setup it looks like it is missing high misalignment spacers which would allow it to articulate more. To my eye it does look like that setup would bind pretty quickly.

I’ve had mine on for well over a decade of hard wheelin, with 14” of travel, and have never had an issue. But the joints that came with it (I’m fairly sure) have a one piece ball in the joint, not a through bolt.

I haven't seen the 1 piece versions in a few years. The current version is what is shown above. There is a black aluminum misalignment spacer against the arm or link mount which is correctly installed and then the lock nut with the turned down shoulder on it on the outside where it belongs. Not sure why the liners are coming out but that is not normal. We've installed many of that style with no issue. I suspect a supplier issue.

Interesting. Wonder why they made the change - cost?

You have the older style. New style has small black aluminum misalignment spacers now which are shown in my picture. I'll give ORO a shout this week. I'm not mad at all just thought it was strange the liners were coming apart already on what is a very mild setup with low miles.

You can see the aluminum misalignment spacers in the kit photo.

Correting my mileage estimate from above. My mileage was way less than I thought. I just got the jeep inspected on 6/10/22 and it had 84,951 miles. The expiring inspection has the mileage recorded at 82,195. So less than 3k miles in a year and this sway loc was installed January of 2022. So less than 1k miles at the most.

Like I mentioned above, I'll give ORO a shout this week as this is pretty early for these for have issues. Also it's worth noting ORO doesn't make these heims so this is not a bash on ORO.

Update for anyone following.

Called ORO this morning and they took care of it. Great service and a great product! From the packaging this set up comes in to results after install and service, I couldn't recommend them enough.

They did mention they use qa1 heims and that was highest quality they could find in that size from qa1. Sounds like I just had a manufacturer defective on that heim.
