Savvy Mid-Arm and Tummy Tuck Questions

Yeah, looks like you don't have 1.25" BL. That quarter inch matters a whole lot. You fully need the space for the uppers to clear the tub. Looks like you have some self-clearance happening.

Among the many dumb things I had going on when I first installed the Savvy mid arm on mine, I had a squishy JKS 1.25" body lift that was no more than 7/8" in some places. The body didn't clear the MA brackets everywhere. A short time later, I swapped out the JKS garbage for a properly functioning Savvy 1.25" body lift that corrected multiple small clearance issues beyond just the mid arm brackets.

Thanks for the picture it's very much appreciated. Looks like you have about a 1/4 more clearance so it's got to be they installed the wrong lift pucks. Are your control arms aluminum or steel?

Not my Jeep, but it's a photo from a properly installed mid-arm. I am not sure about steel vs aluminum arms in that photo.

The series of photos you posted were very educational. I had read multiple times, but your photos very clearly showed how the midarm utilized every bit of available space and why that quarter inch mattered.

Are you saying you might have some extra savvy lift pucks? Sorry little confused Blaine. Honestly with this issue I'm not sure what's best route to go. You tell me what you recommend! I only want to to do this job once if I can help it. Lol. But definitely want to fix this before we wheel it as it seems the body weight could possible crack a weld on the savvy mount. Thoughts?

Also we are getting a little bit of vibe when stopped a idle and I read that if you don't have the proper clearance with this kit it can induce more vibes. Thoughts?
Thanks man! -Blake-

If you want a Savvy 1.25" body lift, I can probably scrounge up enough take off pucks from doing raised Genright mounts where we cut off the factory frame side versions and weld on new ones to move up the mounts. That means we take out the lift pucks, toss them in a box and save the good ones. Since I have several new body lifts from Savvy here, I know how to source the bolt lengths. The only part I probably won't be able to get for you are the snubber extenders under the grill corners.

This bolt looks loose to me.

Great eye. That bolt is loose because I have a Johnny joint on the rear truss that is blown out. so I was gonna take the whole control arm off. Put the joint in my press so I can loosen the stuck jamb nuts. But then quickly figured out that that joint is being pressed on by the body and if I take that bolt out it's not going back in lol.

That was my end goal most likely was going with the Arctic raised skidded mounts. What would a job cost like that to have all the factory mounts cut up and the body raised up properly with the new mounts either genright or articulation. Is there any other kit that's out there right now that's as good as the savvy? I would probably have a hard time sourcing just the missing couple parts. Thanks for all the help everybody you guys have been killing and I can't believe all the responses I'm blown away..

I'm so confused.

I'm so confused.

You were talking about moving up the actual mounts on the jeep to get rid of the lift pucks right, like in this pic? Just saying that is my end goal as the factory ones are going to get smashed. I was asking how much a job like that normally costs that ls all. Sorry to confuse ya.

Second was saying it might be hard to get the front grill bumps separate. The ones installed right now are 2.25" What are you asking for the savvy kit. Or it Is their a good kit on the market now ready to go with everything?

Artec mounts are fat, stupid and defeat the entire purpose of raising the body mounts to improve clearance. Frankly, all Artec stuff is poorly designed heavy junk. Use Genright raised body mounts instead. They are perfect for an 1.25" body lift, they are lower profile than the factory mounts, and they are thicker steel than factory.

I'm learning alot from you guys. I used artec trusses before and they were great. I'll check out the genright ones. Thank you.

The only great about Artec trusses is that they fit together easily. That has nothing to do with whether or not they fit well within the larger build. I haven't seen any that do.

Took 5 years to sell 50 units IIRC. Also, if you dont know what you are trying to solve with a midarm, then stick with the short arm kit.

And bragging pic because I am one of 50 Early TJs with a savvy tuck🕺

I bought the Savvy UnderArmor in December of 2011. It is the original one piece skid "surfboard". I paid $1095 before a 10% PIRATE discount. I also bought the gas tank skid at the same time, $329. Also discounted 10%. Shipping was a 100 bucks. $1281 delivered. Those were the good old days.

It looks like you have the two piece TT. Does it predate my surfboard?

Post. Jeep owners are not able to do simple basic grade school math. They refused to buy the early all inclusive Under Armor and instead bought the 1 piece at a time UCF version since the main section was cheaper. It didn't matter when it was pointed out that the Savvy version included the requisite body lift, cable shifter, engine skid, MML, and you wound up with a stand alone crossmember for the same exact money when all the UCF pieces were added together with a cable shifter, body lift, and MML.

That forced a design change to break it all up so it could be sold piecemeal.

The other big gotcha was the absolute reluctance to swap out an existing motor mount lift block to the Savvy version that the engine skid support bolted to. That was one I could never get my head around. Alright, you know how to do it, this is a better way. Nope, don't wanna. Or they really wanted to stick with some bullshit full mount vibe inducing replacement they were married to. I don't wanna buy stock motor mounts, I like my bulldogs. I should have just sent out small cans of bright yellow paint.

I am quite proud of myself for having the original "Surfboard". And I was quite happy with the engine lift design. I replaced the old MMs with new Mopar MMs as part of the install. Look ma, "no vibrations!".

I remember all that history, MrBlaine!

Guess I do not know what version I have. But last thing I want to do with piss anyone off in this forum. You sound very upset. Sorry to have bothered you. Have a great day

Yes it's a 2 piece. It looks very similar to what's being sold on their website right now

You're far from that. Don't worry. The original Savvy surfboard under armor was an amazing design and unlike anything on the market then and now. It predates my interest in Jeeps and it irritates me today that I can't get one, especially knowing that it didn't survive because people didn't understand what it was.
