MORE motor mount lift problem

I jack the engine up via the harmonic balancer. Stick a 2x4 under it vertically, standing it on top of the jack. I don’t like to jack against the oil pan and there isn’t really anywhere else on the engine I can find that works.

Doesn't the crankshaft rotate? Seems like a poor place to put an engine support because you are worried about a gasket/or pan that nobody has ever reported damaging.

Doesn’t rotate at all. Especially not in gear (manual) or in park with parking brake set. But even without those it sits right on it just fine.

I’m not concerned about the gasket, I don’t like putting that weight on the pan. I have dented them before. You also have a lot better leverage at the front of the motor than the back. Not that it matters to the jack but you’re putting much less force on the harmonic balancer than it would take to lift at the rear pan area.

No matter how you explain it, seems like stupid advice to me. Especially when multiple people have suggested using force to move the engine around.

No one is suggesting to jack from the pan, jack it up from between the bolts where the pan bolts to the block. I use a 2x4 between there and my floor jack for that job.

Also having alignment issues. The lower part of the bracket is running into the frame side of the mount. I also can’t push the mount towards the block anymore, the bolt is flush with the slot on the mount itself. Any suggestions?

Might have to losen trans mount,do not jack on balancer, plenty of other places in the engine block,

Looks like if you seat the engine mount you are really close, maybe use a drift to line it up,what mounts are those?

Already loosened the trans :/ . I seated it and it’s so close, it’s about an 1/8” off. Maybe the driver side is fighting me? They are the MORE ones, I bought the non-zinc plated ones and painted them with Eastwood rust encapsulator instead

Can you losen up the mount to the engine?

One thing I did like about them ,they felt solid going down the road and pulling away from stops but traffic lights were hell(lol)let us know how it is.

I’ll be upset if it’s bad after all the f’ing around this has taken. I read somewhere the vibes got better after they had them in for awhile

They are not bad to install, just find different places on the block to jack pipes and things to move it where you need it,(not the balancer or the pan)and leave it all lose first.

The issue is if I get it bolted and the bracket is still making contact with the frame, as shown in my first pic, the vibrations are going to be bad bad.
