GATORB8 LJ Build

Jeep didn’t paint the whole grill?

They didn't paint quite a bit more than that. I still maintain Chrysler is/was the cheapest of the big 3.

Been using their products since 2008, highly recommend them for smaller jobs or if you don't have access to spray gear. Good stuff. 👍

It'll be awesome when you're all done though

Yeah, lot of work to go.

Just choked down a $1700 Rock Auto order, hopefully I picked all the correct parts. Had Northridge do the front dana shafts and BJs for the same price as RA.

I'm between a couple options on wheels/tires.

There's a FBM guy that has an unused mounted set of 8x170 Grenades/40" Trail Grapps I'm trying to get down to about $4k (set of 5)
I have my buddy who runs the local off road shop checking to see if/what Thret will do for 8x170 Maze's (met the Thret guys last year, and their price point is killer, I expect these to be forged for similiar to cast price point). He's got a set of lightly used 40" MT Baja Boss MT's in the shop for $1500 for a set of 5.
Looks like Vision Manx's are a nice price point for 8x170s otherwise.

Well those bastards didn’t want to come out. Significantly heavier with the trusses and guts.

They fought back, but fat man power conquers again.

The MC tails have tiny machine screws/nuts for the side markers, had to make a hardware run for replacements after dropping and losing some.

14 bolt painted up with steel it. Seems like good stuff, even though it’s expensive.

Swapped to the rear accessory motobilt setup. Was just test fitting a 2 ga I had laying around, but a 4 is the entire width of the tailgate, and a 3 is slightly too big in two dimensions.

More RA parts time to build out the axles and start suspension.

@NashvilleTJ any chance you found a BJ press that works on these?

Well, kinda. I have a big OMT set as well:

But notice the big C-Clamp is a different color. I bent the original trying to remove the ball joints on the 60. All the adapters work great, but I had to pull out that gray C-Clamp which I’ve had for 30 years, and that worked. They don’t make stuff like they used to…
